How am I even supposed to sum this up?

One week ago today I flew to Florida to finally meet @swankkat in person. I came home last night. While I was away I:

Discovered grits

Toured a chocolate factory, complete with tastings

Saw (and heard!) dolphins frolicking in the Matanzas River

Saw The Last Unicorn for the first time

Had Happy Birthday sung to me - twice - by one of my favorite musicians (even if he did get my name wrong)

Made a run to Waffle House after karaoke and cocktails

Got the latest in a series of birthday tattoos (pics to follow once it's healed more)

And generally fell even more in love with her than I was before.

Our AirBnB host left me a private note: "I would occasionally hear laughter coming from your room, while I was in the kitchen and it always made me smile :) I wish you both the best!"

We're already talking about at least two more trips, because there were so many things we didn't get to do, and things she wants to do with me other times of the year.

As we were driving to lunch on my last day, I looked at Kat and said "I don't want it to be over."

"It's not over," she said. "Just on pause."

Y’all, @swank_kat spoils me. We spent two hours this morning on FaceTime opening our #valentines gifts to one another, chatting about plans for my birthday trip in June, and basically being stupidly in love with each other. Hi, I’m ridiculous.

Some of you may be familiar with the concept of an “I love me” wall. Well, I appear to have made a “he loves me” wall in my cube at work. I’m not here at the moment...

People have been tagging me in posts and sending me asks, and I haven’t responded, and I wanted to apologize for that. There are two reasons:

1) I have been leaving my social-media browser closed at work for the past week, because it was massively impacting my productivity, and as the only person in my department, I really can’t afford that.

2) I’ve been spending my evenings chatting with my new girlfriend.

2a) Oh, yeah - I have a new girlfriend. *smiles goofily*

Normal service will resume eventually. Probably once she goes back to work and we’re obligated to pay attention to the fact that she’s three time zones away.
