@rwpeachdaze submitted: Hi,
Saw this critter having a wander across the floor. Was relocated to somewhere a bit quieter. Think it might be a mouse spider. Location UK.
Hello! I'm glad it was relocated somewhere safe and yes, looks like a mouse spider!
Tales from the bathroom at midnight. 🌙😴
So this is Greta 👋🏼

Just making new a new oc :)
a visit from the non-native but noninvasive Scotophaeus blackwalli mouse spider. this is a European species, not to be confused with the larger more aggressive Australian mouse spiders.
Notice those big spinnerets, those aren't for building webs but for using a strong, gluey web to take down prey. it's sticky enough to take down other, much larger spiders if it so desires.
females like this one are commonly seen indoors in autumn, just another sign that fall is here in the northern hemisphere.
This is pretty neat!
Context: I was watching the Graham Norton show where Dec was describing when he was in Australia and got bit by a spider. Cate Blanchett said it was probably a mouse spider. I looked it up and it looked kinda familiar…didn’t think Spider-Man was based off an actual spider (or so I now assume given the similarities). Then I realized I had no idea what a black widow spider actually looked like. Hence, the above pictures.
