Champagne Moutard Père et Fils Brut Rosé DE Cuvaison NV
We love Champagne and we really love pink Champagne and Moutard is our go-to FUN choice. It's delicious and affordable and we offer it in 2 sizes; the classic 750ml bottle, and the magnum for when you're celebrating with friends and family. We feel so lucky to have Mr. Moutard himself here tonight to pour from both vessels. The same wine will taste differently from the different sized bottles... it's a theory we are putting to the test tonight! Taste it twice.
750ml is $45 // Magnum (1.5 liter) is $95
FROM THE WINERY'S WEBSITE: "The Moutard Family has been living in the village of Buxeuil since the mid 17th century, and have a long tradition of both grape growing and wine production. Located in the Cote des Bar, the vineyard soils are made up of clays and limestones, lending to rich, fruity aromas and good minerality. Champagnes are cellar-aged for at least three years for non-vintage wines and up to ten and fifteen years for vintage wines."
90 John Gilman - View from the Cellar
"The new version of Moutard Père et Fils Rosé de Cuvaison non-vintage Brut is from the base year of 2013 and is composed entirely of Pinot Noir. The wine spent nearly three years aging sur latte and was finished with a dosage of ten grams per liter. The beautiful cherry salmon color is a prelude to a refined bouquet of blood orange, cherries, clove-like spice tones, rye bread, dried rose petals and a lovely base of chalky minerality. On the palate the wine is bright, full-bodied and zesty, with a fine core, elegant mousse, very good balance and grip and a long, gently vinous finish. This is still a young wine, but the dosage is perfect to buffer the youthful acidity and it is already very easy to drink, but it will be even better with a few years in the cellar. 2017-2030."
90 - Wine Spectator
"A tangy version, showing steeped peach and raspberry fruit, with almond and preserved lemon flavors. Floral and spice accents ride the creamy bead and linger on the chalky finish."
90 Allen Meadows - Burghound
"An exceptionally fresh and layered nose features notes of raspberry, cherry and strawberry. Here too the effervescence is relatively fine and the delicious, round and relatively generous flavors are drier than the dosage would typically suggest. Like the Grand Cuvée this is quite stylish though one could hope for just a bit more overall depth."
