“Oh, that story.” Reed tipped the cup up and drained half of it. “Ok, so. I’m not from here. Not this world’s Reed, which I think you already figured out. On my world, I’m kind of a fuck up. Well, turns out I’m a fuck up on a lot of worlds, but in mine…” He paused to look into his own cup. “I lost Sue, and Ben… and Sue’s brother. The accident that gave us our powers in so many worlds, just killed them. So, I don’t have that buffer between me and fucking up. I was doing an experiment with the Space Gem, trying to figure out a way to get rid of a bigger badder, and I ended up just making myself… spacially unstable. I kind of… pop in and out of worlds. I never know how long I will be anywhere.”

“So you failed them”
Namor’s voice was growing more slurred and almost sleepy. He wasn’t upset. How many multiverses had he traveled? Too many to count and he had seen Sue and the others die again and again. It numbed him to the fact that they could die. Also the drink had really mellowed him out. He looked over at the man who wasn’t from here taking in his appearance, and then Namor snorted befoe quietly saying.
“I guess that is something we have in common. Come on Reed who is not Reed from here. Let us go for a walk. Or you will have to drag me out of here. I could use the sea breeze to clear my thoughts. What do you say?”
Namor needed sleep but he didn’t want it. He knew what nightmares would come when he closed his eyes.
Reed twitched, getting a sour look when Namor accused him of failing. Some things were consistent in all the Reeds. Still, he didn’t argue, and instead just shrugged. “I didn’t succeed, so there is that...”
He rose when Namor suggested the walk, nodding. He waited until they were outside to glance as Namor and ask, “Who did you fail?”
