Artist Research | Fashion Elective

In TUS we have an extensive library resource where I like to spend some of my time researching the many books and fashion editorials.

I'm particularly interested in hand weaving skills and textiles.

I attempted to work on a piece by using a technique Called 'smocking' which I thought only applied to my mothers curtains back in the 80's.

Through Colette Wolff's book, The Art of Manipulating Fabric, I have been introduced to a more fulfilling creative adventure to learn new techniques to apply to my final design.

These are some of my final test piece results..

WEEK 3 -- Electives semester/Movement brief / Artist research

This week I am attending the Ceramics elective with Tutors Elaine Riordan and Mary Conroy. As part of the learning design of working with clay we first work with paper. As part of my research I discovered the art of 'Paperclay'.

Structure and Combined Media Elective

I experimented with different fluids that I combined with some structures I had lying around at home in order to re-create a form over which I could pour fluid to find out what patterns and shapes may come from this.
