Remember What Happened In āBack To The Futureā ? Yeah, It Was A Great Movie! āAnimaniacsā (1990)
Thought Iād share a moment from one of my favorite movies, Dream Keeper, which was a straight-to-tv movie written by John Fusco. This was the same guy who wrote a lot of movies including Hidalgo, Forbidden Kingdom, and Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron! Ā I actually found this film through my search for materials that reflect true native american culture and beliefs, since two of my best friends are Lakoto-Sioux. I donāt understand nearly enough about their culture, and I really wanted to know more, so I asked them for any suggestions on things to watch/read. They instantly recommended this film!Ā
I would totally suggest watching it,Ā ācause honestly itās a great movie. The film is about an old storyteller who asks his grandson Shane, (whoās gotten himself in a bit of trouble), to take him to a powwow in Albuquerque. While traveling, he shares wisdom with his grandson through the many legends of their people. Itās a great watch because 1, great characters and interactions, and 2, fascinating stories (which are actually all true!).
Give it a watch if you can find it!

Let me tell you about this little film I saw- The Den
The Den
Sometimes you have to take Netflix recommendations with a grain of salt. There is many a movie that I have avoided which came with their stamp of approval. But sometimes there are movies like Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon and Grave Encounters where I am pretty certain I owe them a thank you card. The Den came up in my suggestions yesterday, seemed to have a decent premise, and since I was going to be spending the evening on my own I decided to give it a try.
So I think that watching this movie alone in the dark really help set the stage, and brought me on board fast. This movie set the tension bar Ā fast and kept you there. There was a moment at the end where I was struck by a similarity to the French film Ils AKA Them and, a little more vaguely, the Spanish film Tesis. I enjoyed the story and the journey, there was a bit at the very end where the movie seemed a tad smug with itself, but having enjoyed everything else so much I was willing to overlook it.
Iād have to say I recommend it. Itās scary, fun, and current. I give it four Walkens.
