These are images from my art installation which is an homage to our industrial past and the diminishing gas towers that changed the way we live today. Light boxes - represent the fallen structure, the tearing down down of gas holders that first brought light into our homes. By using electric lights it gives it a certain irony. The images are photographs of gas towers around London that are waiting to be pulled down. Museum Monuments - I created 2 metal structures in which The shadows show their former glory as big bold structures - mere shadows of their former glory. They are encased in plastic as museum pieces - do not touch! but they're just 2 rusty old objects indeed as in the way gas holders are looked at today. Visual Sound - I recorded the sound at the biggest remaining gas holders in London , Bow. The sound is of a deserted area where nothing happens. These structures were once the living and breathing souls of the city. There is only the sound of the odd car passing or the odd bird tweeting.i used plastic to bounce the sound off to represent our disposable culture. I chose fluorescent acrylic for its manufactured natural light forming ways. It's a nod to our industrialisation and the forms we create today.
