fresh start;

Sakura hardly remembered the trip to Mount Phoenix, since she was barely conscious for the trip from Japan. It had been disorienting, to wake up after the battle with the nogitsune in the sterile, bright hospital room - the only familiar thing being her brother sitting at her bedside. In the end, she was glad he had thought to bring them to the island, though. A healing god had fixed up her injuries much faster and better than any human doctor could; after just a few days, the only sign of the gaping wound in her side was some slight discolouration, as if it had already been healed for years. And even that, she was told, would likely fade.
Thank the gods, because it would have been a huge hit to her career if she had a giant ugly scar marring her side, and it would be a lie to suggest that had not been one of the things at the forefront of her mind while she was in the hospital. Fortunately, her crop top days were far from over.
As such, she was in high spirits when Lupin came to pick her up after she was discharged - and her spirits lifted further when he presented her with a nice dress and the promise that they were going somewhere nice for lunch. She was practically skipping as they made their way out to the car, soaking in the fresh air and warm sunshine. “You always know exactly what I need, Lu. What would I do without you?”
