Poisoned | Blair & Ruyi
@mpxruyi:
Ruyi lifts a brow as he watches Blair wipe the remains of juice from her chin. A little dramatic if he is being honest with himself but it was to see just how well people might take it if they saw a bug. He picks up the fake leech he had deposited into her glass of orange juice when she wasn’t paying attention from where it was cast when she spat the thing back out.
“Trust me, if I were attempting to kill you it wouldn’t be with a hundred won plastic bug,” he tosses the thing into the nearby waste bin. “Also, I didn’t lie. I said the juice didn’t have poison in it. I said nothing about anything else.”
There wasn’t a single person that would have reacted differently to how Blair did; in fact, some might even have a more violent response to seeing a leech in their juice. “This is well within the definition of poison, Ruyi,” she grumbled, pushing the glass away from her, “I could have swallowed that and died. That is, if you didn’t fucking scare me to death first.”
Her appetite was now thoroughly dismissed and Blair was beginning to wonder why she agreed to meet with Ruyi in the first place. For someone who should have been so trustworthy, being a surgeon and all, Blair did not trust him at all.
infirmary – anise wakes up in the hospital and finds Ruyi at their bedside
Before she finds the energy to lift her eyelids and greet the world with tired eyes, Anise takes stock of her body. She’s not sure where she is or how she got here, but the skin of her hands brushes against the stiff, starchy fabric of a hospital bed. She knows this feeling. Unfortunately, she knows it quite well, is very familiar with the uncomfortable linens and sturdy efficiency of hospital beds. Crap.
So she’s in a hospital, or at least in a hospital bed. Time to open her eyes then, find out exactly where she is and what’s going on and how she got here. When finally her eyelids drift open with the weight of ocean waves rolling onto shore, Anise sees...a hospital room. So she must be in a hospital. That’s no surprise really. Beside her bed is what appears to be a doctor, though not one she can verify having seen before. This hospital at least is not specifically familiar to her.
“Gimme it straight doctor, what did me in? Hypoglycemia? Asthma? Fungus? Somethin’ else?” She toys with the edges of her bedding as she waits for the answer with a furrow of frustration set in her brow.
light – Ruyi flickers the lights to get Auralie’s attention
It was only a split second, barely enough time for a normal person to react, but she had just watched a rather scary anime the night before where a ghost liked to pop out in the dark and that, in combination with her own terror of the dark, made her scream. “Oh my god–” she screamed briefly in French, “Don’t– Oh, Ruyi.”
She had a hand over her chest, trying to calm her heart. “Ruyi, you scared me” Aura whined, tears threatening to gather in her eyes, “I thought that a ghost was coming to eat me.”
bed – Ruyi makes Blair lie down (due to dehydration)
“I–I’m fine, Ruyi, seriously! I don’t need to– whoa, okay, okay.”
She spun out as she tried to argue against Ruyi’s insistence and, without any energy to actually fight back, let me take her where ever he wanted anyway. Soon, she found herself lying down on his couch with her feet raised on the arm rest. Ironically, this bout of lightheadedness came just as she were about to go get a cup of a water.
“I just need water, or any sort of liquid really,” she mumbled. Her usually pale face was now completely devoid of colour and the hand she held over her forehead trembling.
i know you’re not sleeping.
“You can’t know that,” Jimin mumbles in an obvious verification of Ruyi’s statement. He hums a laugh knowing full well that he hadn’t been trying to fool Ruyi in the least. Sure, he’s supposed to be sleeping, but it can’t be helped; Jimin keeps dreaming about Eiji getting his by a car over and over, and then the dream shifts to more people close to him getting hurt, and eventually he always wakes up from the nightmares and can’t fall back asleep for the fear of seeing them again.
“Okay, you caught me. But it’s not like I don’t wanna sleep. I just...can’t.”
when are you gonna learn to listen to me?
prodigal son starters: no longer accepting
“Don’t get me wrong here, I appreciate your help but I just don’t think this is for me.” Krystal had no idea why she came into this boutique. She was forced to take time off of work for reasons that she deemed preposterous, she’d been bored stuck in her apartment so she wandered out into the city. She hadn’t been lingerie shopping in... actually she’d never been. She was quite intimidated to find that Ruyi worked here as well, she’d seen him in passing at the hospital but they’d never had many conversations outside of patients.
Krystal gestured to her reflection in the mirror, her face showing that she was visibly unsure about the entire ensemble. More particularly, uncomfortable with just showing skin in general... “I want to treat myself and try something new but... I don’t think this one is the way to go.”
we talk about murder the way most people talk about sports.
A giggle that might sound unsettling to anyone that isn’t Ruyi spills from Yako’s lips at the statement. She supposes he’s right, but it’s not like the two of them have acted on any of their conversations. There are no laws against talking hypotheticals as far as the girl is aware. Maybe there should be for people like the two of them, but there aren’t. One day she really has to get a copy of the Mount Phoenix laws just so that she has them around for reference. Some might think that Yako is far too shallow for things like that, but there’s a reason that she has managed to survive this long getting in - and out - of groups of the wrong sort of people for this long. She had grown up among marine biologists who loved to use technical terms, and they had taught her well how to understand technical and legal babble.
The key is that people don’t expect her to understand.
“Well, most people who talk about sports don’t actually play sports, so I really don’t see the harm. If we don’t play then there’s no problem talking technique! Right, Ruru?”
