You fidgeted as you sat next to one of the police desks. The receptionist, who introduced himself as DK, told you where to go and to sit down until one of the detectives showed up. So that's what you were doing, sitting down nervously, with your bag in your lap and praying to God whoever these detectives may be, were nice.
You had a sudden intake of breath, as the door across the room from you flew open. A young handsome looking man, with brown hair, enters the room with files in hand and a badge on his hip.
He froze, now noticing your presence in the room. He raised an eyebrow slightly, unfroze and walked over to what looked like his desk.
"Are you okay Miss?"
You smiled, his voice seemed calm, like he was trying to reassure you could talk in some way. You stand and introduce yourself.
• Your P.O.V •
"Oh yes, I'm here on placement, my names (Y/N) (Y/L/N)" I smiled at the man. His smile grew as he bowed to me slightly.
"Ah, the one from Seoul University right?" He asks, and I nod in response. "My names Kim Namjoon, I'm the lead detective of this unit"
I bowed, letting out a long sigh. Namjoon chuckled, sending me a look.
"Nervous?" He asks, and I nod my head rapidly.
"A bit" I admit, as I feel my cheeks start to flush.
"Well you have nothing to worry about, all the detectives here are nice people" Namjoon's smile stayed on his face, even when he looked down at his watch that sat on his wrist. "Speaking of the other detectives they should be back real soon"
"Okay" I smiled, my nerves starting to calm down.
"There's four of us in this unit, so you'll probably be set to just one of the detectives to focus your writing" I continuously nod, as Namjoon explains what's going to happen during the placement.
"Do you have any idea of who I'll be placed with?" I ask, and Namjoon quickly nods.
"Yes I do," He seems to chuckle awkwardly and rubs the back of his neck. I send him a look and he sighs. "The only thing is, is that he isn't the biggest fan on reporters"
"But I'm not a reporter?" I say confused, and I tilt my head slightly. "I'm a student"
"Yeah, but you're learning to be one or at least that's what your course is based around" Namjoon lets out another sigh. "So to him, it's kind of the same thing"
"If anything, I want to write about the truth and nothing, but the truth" Namjoon smiles, nodding his head. "I don't want to be one of those bullshit writers you see in the media spreading fake news" I let out a heavy breath, as my cheeks continue to go pink. "Sorry about the language"
"It's fine" He chuckles. "I trust you, I'm only saying that he can be a handful"
I raise my head slightly and flick my hair behind my shoulder.
"Well if he wants to be like that, I can certainly be worse" I smirk to myself, as I hear Namjoon's laugh. The smile on his face looked like he really didn't mind that I said I could annoy the detective who I was going to be partnered with if he were to annoy me. If it were any other detective I'm sure they wouldn't be so impressed.
"I feel like I've made a good decision with this" He moved from the desk he was standing at and went and sat down at the one I was sitting next to. "His desk is the one I put the files on when I came into the room, but you can just sit here for now until he arrives"
"Okay," I nod, and retake my seat, and pull my notebook from out of my page and a blue pen.
One the first page is my placement brief given to me by my tutor, specifying what I had to do on like placement and what I had to write about.
'You may write about the individuals in the workplace: note down how they act, what they like, what makes them tick, how they work etc... Also make sure to note how they interact with their other workmates, and how the atmosphere is day to day, and how it can change in certain situations. Add in some things they do day to day, is it the same or does it change daily?
Bullet points, and paragraphs accepted in notes, but final essay must only be in paragraphs, that includes an introduction and a conclusion.'
Flicking to the next page, I start on character profiling the mysterious detective I had yet to meet.
