😒 Is there anything canon about your muse that you ignore?
Well, I try and keep Tom as close to character, while avoiding the uncomfortable shit.
For instance, how he Treats Nancy, Despite me fucking a lot of people on the dash. If you really want my cannon on Tom. He and Karen had an affair and it ended in Holly. Like I fully...Just go with that. So all this to say. The reason he is not kind to Nancy, is to throw off any inclination of favoritism. He finds Nancy very smart and well to do. However the way I also write Tom. He's fully under Brenner's thumb and also Russia's. So her and Jonathan being nosey, doesn't help his mood.
So i...I guess i dont ignore him being a dick..I just ignore the usual reason why he probaly is...Everyone else will just say he's a sexist bastard and a terrible husband and father...I. Really. Don't like that characterization. I will ignore that. If People want to write Tom as a terrible evil man with hatred for Nancy and women..Fine. But not my Tom. It's wayyyy more complex than that.
To be fair, I wasn't given a lot of cannon material with the Holloways. So i'm really just trying to fill in the gaps to make it make sense. I just. Don't see how Janet Or Tom could ever not adore their daughter Heather. Their one child. Their Princess?? I really treat Heather as their mirical baby as well. Like Janet and Tom would of thrived off more kids. But they just have Heather and they are so proud of her. So thats another thing i guess I ignore. Is like, the abusive parent thing? I don't think so.
Ive said it before and I'll say it again. The dinner scene in season 3 seems like Tom is like. Prepared for Billy and Heather to try and say they are pregnant. He seems tense and like he doesn't even care that these two kids are in his house worried about Heather? Because he's also fucking worried about Heather.
The moment Janet passes out? He has FEAR in his voice, a man who doesn't love his wife wouldn't jump to check on her.....Anyways jesus this got away from me...I really just ignore Tom's characterization of being a dick for the sake of it. He's got layers god damn it.
