Mr. Hopp stimboard bc I'm excited for the next game
Rambling under the cut!
I had really thought that Mr. Hopp 3 would be the last game, aside from maybe a game focusing on Isabelle. It wrapped everything up pretty well, and then they started focusing on HD remakes of the first two games, and I figured "oh, they WANT to make more games, but they're worried about messing up the story they have so far." However, because it took this long and because I feel like I trust them to do it right, I have faith that this new game will be good. I'm also excited to see the return of one of my fav slightly obscure horror series! If only they would make pins...
The one thing I'm confused about, while I feel like I understand most everything in the trailer so far, is what time period the game takes place in in terms of the MHP timeline. Kaiya's phone says it's modern day, but Esther is in possession of Mr. Hopp until 2019, when the Entity is defeated and Esther assumes position as the head and guardian of the underworld. Is it maybe just Isabelle controlling Mr. Hopp and the new toys now? We've never had ghost-possessed toys in this franchise before.
Regardless, I'm interested to see where it goes, crossing my fingers it's not a "somehow, Palpatine returned" thing, and excited for it altogether- especially seeing a new family unrelated to Ruby and Esther.

“Dad? Can you take Mr. Hopp tonight? He scares me…” The small girl whispered meekly, fingers clutching the white rim of her pink blanket. Her brown eyes darting anxiously at the gray rabbit doll that sat on a stool near her bed. All on its own.
“Don’t be silly, Ruby. What would Nana think if she heard you saying that? She made him just for you…” A man’s voice calmly responded, patting his daughter’s brown hair. “I’ll leave your nightlight on.” He planted a kiss on her forehead. “Try to get some sleep, mkay?” He clicked off the lights in the pink room and shut the door, his footsteps fading into nothingness.
Ruby laid down and nuzzled herself against the pink bedding, shutting her eyes for a moment to try and make sweet slumber engulf her. But her nightlight began to flicker, and for a second it turned off, but when it came back on…Mr. Hopp was gone.
“Mum? Dad…?!” She pushed off the blankets and got out of her bed. Her feet making a soft ‘thump’ when she landed. Holding her own hands to her chest she went towards her door. Accidentally stepping on her teddy bear, wincing at the loud squeak…if only she had put her toys away.
Stepping out her room she had to avoid stumbling onto a babydoll she owned. Walking a few steps into the blue hall she grabbed a drawing she made that she left on the drawer. It was of her family, she drew herself in tears next to Mr. Hopp, because that’s how she felt. Sad and scared near that damned rabbit.
Going past a toy car and blue bear she decided to quickly peak into the attic. The walls were a pale beige, a contrast to the deep blues of the halls and the cozy pinks of her room. Avoiding a doll she went into the attic towards the put away Christmas tree…she saw big yellow eyes in the darkness…but the shut before she could even attempt to walk to them. Freaked out she immediately did a 180 and made a beeline out the attic.
As she went deeper into her own house she tripped and fell on a space hero toy, its loud yelling of ‘GO! GO! GO!’ pierced both her ears and the eerie silence of the home. Pushing herself up she ran she ignored how she ran into a loud train toy and opened the blue door into her parents’ room. But instead of seeing her parents lying there. She saw nobody, and a huge claw scratch on the wall. “Mum? Dad? Where are you?”
Ruby didn’t know what else to do but just- go back to bed. But when she walked down the hall and was about to pass that space rangers toy…she saw it.
Mr. Hopp, now gigantic. Walking down the halls. His rabbit feet making thumps, clutching a small box that let out a gentle tune. She fought the urge to scream in absolute terror. She already feared the red bow tied rabbit; but now seeing him walk around, she was mortified.
She quickly went past the hall, avoiding moving when that tune got too close. When he walked by on the other sides of the halls. She opened her door and quickly pushed it shut. Catching her breath her eyes stung with tears.
‘I’m just seeing things…’ She thought. ‘That can’t be real!’ She hoped. Climbing back in her bed, she squeezed her eyes closed and let herself go to sleep.
______
Mr. Hopp walked to the pink room, staring down at the small girl who had returned to sleep. ‘Not very intelligent.’ He thought.
“Won’t you bring her to play…” A voice echoed near the rabbit, causing his ears to perk up. “Isabel and I have been sooo bored since the death of the hag.” The Entity whined like a child.
Mr. Hopp thumped his foot in response. All that struggle just for him to play?
“I’ll do all the work if you just obeeeey~” The Entity cooed. There’s no stopping them now. The rabbit sat down, knowing where they were heading. Tail wagging in excitement.
______
Ruby opened her eyes, birds chirping, sun basking in. She was right! It was all just a dream! She got out her bed and grabbed slippers from her closet. Slipping them on she noticed that the stool where Mr. Hopp vanished from in her dream, he still sat there. She sighed and decided that maybe she should try and get over this fear. Picking up the freaky stuffed bunny she opened her bedroom door and…
…
Grass. She wasn’t home anymore…it was as if her room was ripped straight out of her house. She shut the door and clutched the bunny close. Walking up the long path, the earth and trees were dark, as if filled with sorrow even under the daylight. And she saw a brick sign.
‘Blacklands Manor Orphanage’. Never heard of it.
She walked into the open fence and stared up at the sheer size of the place. She gently pushed the door open. The creak spoke a tale of pure age and lives before Ruby’s. She took a deep breath before stepping inside.
