A musica não tem de fato algo que se relacione com a época mas imagino muito como alguém, no caso o cantor, aconselhando o Charles antes de ele ir para Galway e ter tomado todas as decisões que tomou. Ele era um garoto pobre e então imaginem que o que ele quis viver era algo grandioso demais para alguém da classe dele naquela época e por isso alguns amigos da família falavam para que ele não fosse estudar pois não teria uma renda tão fácil sendo um homem estudado mas vindo de origens humildes e sim que deveria tentar carreira na Guarda Real para que ele tivesse um bom emprego e ainda pudesse tirar a mancha que o fracasso da participação do pai em um conflito provincial havia dado aos O’Sullivan, e assim também orgulhasse a mãe que sempre tentou dar a ele de tudo para que tivesse uma vida boa mas ele não quis aquilo, preferiu seguir o seu coração e por isso sempre foi o mais esforçado em tudo aquilo que fez pois queria orgulhar a mãe de sua maneira e poder proporcionar a ela uma vida boa na qual ela não precisasse mais trabalhar tanto. Um dos motivos de ele estar na seleção é justamente isso, atender todo e qualquer pedido que a mãe sempre fez(no caso ela nem fazia por não querer incomoda-lo e deixa-lo seguir sua vida bem).

Ele conseguiu orgulhar sua mãe e tira-la de uma vida difícil, mesmo que por poucos anos, da sua maneira e não seguindo os conselhos dos outros de entrar na guarda. A musica faz referencia a esse momento da vida dele onde precisou decidir-se entre seguir seu coração para o que amava e dar seu máximo para obter sucesso naquilo ou ouvir os outros e tentar o que seria a opção mais “fácil”
