if i’m gonna be completely honest, i think if trey never got into that car accident and had that head injury, he would have never flunked out or at least just had a better time in college. i also wouldn’t be surprised if the head injury affected his depression to some extent

My Thoughts on Mr. Anime (Trey Sesler) Arrest

I know that this happened three years ago, but I have just recently learned about it, and I would like to share my thoughts. And if you hate me for not knowing, I’ll address this. I wasn’t in love with Anime in 2012 or even know about it. So bare with me, and let’s begin. 

So while I was watching one of my favorite Youtubers aka Gigguk. And he made a video about his reaction on it, and when I watched it. I was quite surprised, and at the same time. I didn’t know who the heck this person was. So I watched some news videos about the incident, the news page, and I even checked his channel. To see if it was still there, and you know what. It is still there, I didn’t watch any of his videos, all I looked at was to see what his last video was and how many subscribers he had. He has about 4,000 subs when I checked, which makes me wonder how many subscribers he had. Before people saw his arrest.

Bu anyway, on to my thoughts of this. It is really sad, because his family is dead. And it it’s awful to know that he did, and that he did other things too. Such as kill animals, set fires, and study killers. I hate to be the one to say it, but he lost his mind. My guess is, after people heard what he did, they unsubscribed to him. I feel sorry for all you subscribers of Mr. Anime, I know it’s hard. You sometimes think you know someone, but then you see them do something. And you realize that you don’t, that is what happened to all of his subscribers. As a another Youtuber said in a lot her videos, the camera can let you see so much, or allows you to see what’s in front of you. It went something like that, but you get the point.

I honestly don’t know what was going through his mind, and what provoked him to do these things. And I’m not sure if he truly is sorry for what he did, because there is not telling if he’s faking it or not. But if he his, then I feel sorry that he has lost himself. And to be glad that he was honest and admitting that he did the crimes. Remember people, there is nothing wrong with confessing something did you did something wrong. Because once you’ve confessed, you’re freed in a way. But you still have to pay and be punished, and even if you don’t confess for your crimes, you’ll still suffer. 

So the fact he confessed, is in a way good. Good for himself, but it’s still sad since he’s lost himself. You’d think from watching his videos him showing off guns, you’d think something was up. But then again, people know how to pretend. So the only thing we as people can do, is to pray that God will help him. Because that is the best we can do. Those are my thoughts on this, I’m sorry for all you fans and Anime reviewers who loved him and were inspired by him. And by the way, I don’t believe that Anime has anything top do with what he did. Because Japan doesn’t really make Animes about those kinds of things he was studying. But anyway, I’m sorry for all of you fans, and for you Anime Reviewers who were inspired by him. I guess we don’t know some people as well as we think. Thank you and I’ll talk later!

I know this is old news, but I just now found out. So "Mr. Anime" is now "Mr. Murder". You know, this is sickening.

Anime fans already get quite a bit of negative backlash from narrow-minded people as it is. People who haven't seen it or given it or it's community a try, they just know the little that they do.

If someone who made many popular youtube videos about SpongeBob went out and murdered an entire family, are you going to blame Spongebob? I know you're thinking, SpongeBob is an innocent childrens' cartoon, that's different. No, it's not! It just means that person had an interest in it, all the same as he had an interest in anime! So many communities get blamed for stuff all the time just because things like this happen.

However, I happen to think anime is actually much more innocent. Some kid does a school shooting because he's copying what he sees in violent video games, people don't react like this. Some kid dies trying to copy stunts performed in a live action movie, people don't react like this. Some guy merely likes anime, but has another interest (you do realize most human beings have more than one interests and many of their interests have no relation to each other) in guns & serial murderers, and anime gets blamed? I like skateboarding. I also like anime. Oh, I guess anime has some influence on the fact that I like skateboarding, even though anime has no relation to skateboarding or the reason I started to like it. I had an interest in skateboarding since I was 9. My interest in anime formed when I was 13. You know what, perhaps this guy is the same. You know what? IT IS THE EXACT SAME.

Someone had said anything that comes from Japan or Asia in general is evil. I have done my research on not only Asian culture, but many other cultures. I've seen HORROR MOVIES done by Asians AND Americans. Most Asian horror movies can't even stand up to the violence and gore of movies such as SAW or even classics like FRIDAY 13TH. I dislike Saw, but I love Friday 13th, so I'm not attacking anything. I'm making a truthful comparison. We have violent action cartoons and shows all the same as well that are viewed by people of ALL ages. We have fighting video games, many of the most violent video games on the market were American-made. I'm not putting down any country, in fact - to those reading who do not know, I live in America.

Back to the subject, though. I have met HUNDREDS of people in the anime community. Online and in person. I've gone to the two largest anime conventions in the state of Florida, and two smaller anime conventions near my own area. Out of all the people I've met from the various places, they ALL were kind and caring. None fit the description of Mr. Anime. (Except for one, just one, but this was a completely different case that once again had nothing to do with anime, and has nothing to do with you.) Also, I'm part of the community as well. I have watched many anime from many genres. From little innocent childrens shows that come on for kids to watch before school in the morning to the most gruesome like Higurashi and Elfen Lied.

Here's the thing. Anime for one is like TV shows and movies. They do have age ratings, even the manga does. Look on the back of the DVD case or Manga and look at the bottom left or right side. It will say something like +13, +16, +18. Sure, it's not the same rating system as our E, PG, PG13, and R. However, it's similar. Did you know Pokemon, Sailor Moon, and YuGiOh are all anime? DragonBallZ and Naruto are as well, though they are more of the fighting genre (as are several American Cartoon Network shows for that matter). Also, for you older ones out there - Astro Boy was the first ANIME produced. Speed Racer was an anime too. Guess you didn't know that when you watched it, if you did as a kid.

For those who say the anime that comes on Adult Swim (key word Adult) are for children - um, I guess you think everything else on there is too? Adult Swim, right before it comes on, and in between each and every program, gives a warning that the content of their programs may not be appropriate for people under the age of 18. This warning includes ALL of their shows - including Family Guy, Robot Chicken, and Aqua Teen Hunger Force. So, you cannot complain about younger children INNOCENTLY watching Bleach, Deathnote, Blood+, Fooly Cooly, Durarara, Cowboy Bebop, Ghost In The Shell, Fullmetal Alchemest, Deadman Wonderland, or even InuYasha. Some are violent, some not so much, however they ALL have that warning before they come on. Either you need to pay more attention to what your TV says, or you need to observe what your children watch more if you don't want them watching it.

I've technically watched anime since I was 3 or 4 - I watched Pokemon and Sailor Moon. I watched my first "adult" anime at 13 or 14. I first watched Elfen Lied when I was 15. However, I'm not really any different than most other 20 year old people you see walking around. I love animals, ALL animals - even those people think are "ugly", and cringe at even the THOUGHT of one in pain or being harmed. Let alone could I harm a human. I am an extreme pacifist. I hate violence and everything that has to do with it. Sure, I'll watch horror movies, tv shows, and play some rated M video games, however I, as MANY OTHERS, know the difference between what's on a screen and being done by a computer animation or a stunt double, and what's reality.

Most of us do. So do not judge a whole community based on one bad apple. The anime community tends to be nicer than most other communities I've ever been in.
