If you can't take a joke, you seriously need to grow up. People are going to say things, and you need to just get over it. They were probably wrong, but if you just move on, it won't matter as much.
Now, I'm not saying Mr. Hess doesn't irritate me. He does- to no end. But if you're going to cry when he spars back at the barb you just sent him, it's time for you to get a life. I don't advocate public humiliation, which he seems to enjoy. But I fight with him not because he makes me mad, but because I need to learn how to argue. If I'm going to win an arguement with him, it will be because I said something intelligent instead of getting annoyed and shutting down. Otherwise, I should keep quiet.
I don't think that many kids get this- you can insult Hess BACK, and he won't send you to the principle's office. He won't get you in trouble unless you're beyond out of line. He treats you the way your boss might in several years- but your boss will fire you. He's preparing you for adult life, to have a tough skin and to stick it through. Yes, his methods are a bit Machiavellian- embarrass them once, and they strive to do better. But it works. Or, you fight back, and win.
So don't call it a temper tantrum when I disagree with him- because I take the opportunities I can get. That's why the only thing I complain about, relating to him, is the workload, not his personality. You need to get used to it, and move on.
