i hung a couple of prints by local artists, about local things, up as well today.
the top is a linocut print of my elementary school music teacher (no shit!).
the bottom is a beautiful, big print by slow loris. it's a silk screened print of this house that used to sit at dagmars marina dry moorage in everett. it was there for a long time, and we all got used to seeing it on our drive down from the skagit valley into seattle. (it was eventually bought and moved away. i hope the owners love it!) i've had this print for a while, but had a hard time finding a frame to fit it. ideally, i would have had it custom framed, but i just can't afford that right now. this was wide enough (almost, had to cut off about a 1/4 in on each side), but too tall. i wasn't sure what to do about the empty space at the top and bottom of the print. then! i remembered i have a bunch of washi tape. so i used that to fill in the space. i think it turned out fine, although now i wonder if i should have used the blue flower tape...
