Mr. Sax - the main boss of Band Land (a music world) from Rayman (1). I have never played original Rayman game and knowing how much unfairly difficult it is, I would never ever try it. But I gave a Rayman Redemption a try, a free fanmade remake which is much more fair, has redesigned levels, new levels, bosses, music and even one original world. Though the game is still too hard for me, I haven't even finished it. I got stuck on the final level and I have no motivation to finish it, it became too frustrating and exhausting to me. Well, it seems I'm more skilled at playing 3D platformers than side-scrolling ones.
I've decided to draw Mr. Sax from the original game mainly for two reasons: saxophone is my favourite instrument ever (and this design is nice) and I have some golden (and silver) art supplies. Drawing even a cartoonish saxophone was a great occasion to make use of metallic art suplies, not only golden ones. I'm also planning to make an art of real alto saxophone some day. I've used here every single golden art supply I own: colored pencils (I have some from different sets) , a water-based marker (as a base for the background, it didn't looked good, so I also needed to add a layer of colored pencil), and two gel pens. I've also used a bit of silver supplies and even metallic purple and blue gel pens. To make the whole thing even more shining, I added glitter gel pens as well. There's also a gif which shows how much shining it is and I really love the effect. I've made a better, a bit bigger one firstly, but no matter what I could not upload it on Tumblr, but you can see that version here. Also there's a cropped but longer video version on my Instagram, because it doesn't support animated pictures. I made that yellow outline using a glitter marker, so it also shines in reality, as well as Mr. Sax's hands, but for some reason it isn't visible on the video.
I'm quite proud of this, I love how it looks in real life (not as much on a photo or a scan, but I upload both as I can't decide which looks better) and drawing it was purely fun! I need to find more use for golden and silver art supplies and I now I think that drawing Lugia and Ho-oh fanart with gold and silver background is a nice idea.
