Mr. Throwback has a lot of Gen Z slang in it's script despite most of it's cast being in their 30s and 40s. I can see people finding this 'cringe' but I think it's very funny for a 60 year old man to earnestly say "I got that dog in me."

Mr. Throwback (prods. Daniel & Matthew Libman).
A mockumentary sitcom revolving around NBA superstar Stephen Curry's public persona probably should not be as funny as this is. Comedians Adam Pally, Ego Nwodim, and Ayden Mayeri star as people in the Golden Warriors point guard's orbit who either take advantage of the his generousity or must protect him. Pally plays his usual loveable but scheming schlubby best friend character as a dad trying to give his teenage daughter (Layla Scalisi) the more than he had growing up.
"A down-on-his-luck memorabilia dealer looks for redemption by reuniting with his sixth-grade teammate, NBA great Steph Curry."

Introducing...X and Hype
As we’ve become more immersed in bringing back authentic 90’s flavors, we have stumbled upon/are helping to build a global network of 90’s kids. From meeting Mr. Throwback and Tribe NYC this past year and sending products to our friend Suzan over in the UK for her 90’s inspired brand Educate Elevate, we are starting to reach the right corners of the world!
I found out about X and Hype through a 12-year-old on instagram who follows us. He posted about a t-shirt they made and I looked into it thinking, “hey this looks pretty 90’s.” Wow what an understatement!! X and Hype, made up of Charles X the emcee, and Hype.. well, he’s the hype man! These two “bros” truly understand and love the sound and fashion of 90’s hip hop. With only three to four songs to sample from on their YouTube channel, as a fan, I was hungry for more. I wanted to know if this kid was for real. Did they just have a few gimmicky tracks? Are they really doing it for the love of hip hop, or are they chasing paper? I’ve had multiple conversations with Charles X and after sampling more tracks and speaking to the front-man himself, I had my answer.
We at Major Look Boston are psyched to just know these guys exist. We’ve been playing their jams ever since we discovered them last week, and as fans, we’re aching for more music. X has developed his otherwise thick Australian accent to sound like unique voices hailing from the motherland, NYC. Of course there are still traces of his accent, but in this way, it takes me back to a time when I couldn’t understand every single word in a rap song and I had to listen over and over and over again to truly understand. These guys have the right message; positivity, love, unity, education.. these are things we truly believe in and it is clearly shown in the music of X and Hype.
Check out their latest video: Who Got The Funk? a remix to Buggin' Out by the legendary A Tribe Called Quest. Most of the music you will find on their channel are remixes to classic 90’s hip hop beats. I can tell you first hand Charles X has multiple mixtapes coming with original production that sounds … too good, honestly!!
Be on the lookout for our collaboration work with this young duo! All the way from BOS to AUS!
