The darkness in life can consume, and it has consumed many things. Whole planets in far away stars succumbed to pits entirely made of darkness. Sometimes it swallows things differently. But most everything succumbs to the darkness in the end. 

Sometimes when the moon was gone, creatures of darkness roamed the world, to cause some mischief. Or wail their sorrows. Perhaps a bit of both, creeping into nightmares, giving people frightful fears. 

The darkness had consumed him, and now a sunken eyed man, sat in a chair in Walter’s room. He came in with the wind. But he did not move much, he was exhausted. But every day was exhausting, when most days your nothing. 

Slumped tiredly, like a man having finally taken a load off after a hard days work.
