Born in San Diego and raised by a single mother in a predominantly Spanish-speaking household, Michelle Ruby—Brown Baby, aka MRBbaby, studied in San Francisco before returning home to teach art. Drawn, however, to spend more time creating, Bbaby now splits her time between Los Angeles and San Diego, pulled between mural art, character design, illustration, and fine art. Bbaby's art is heavily influenced by motherhood, and her Puerto Rican–Mexican heritage and one of the most popular commonly recurring characters in her work is Chucho, a rainbow colored pinata who maintains a positive outlook despite the inevitability of being broken. In 2019 BBaby participated in an @brandedarts curated project transforming the walls of the Dr. Maya Angelou Community High School on E 53rd St in South Central Los Angeles, and incorporated small Chucho figures riding on the backs of her fanciful child-pleasing creations.  @mrbbaby/

It's Chucho! A fun creation by Michelle Ruby Guerrero (aka @mrbbaby on IG)! I love this guy! I had mentioned to her that I wanted to draw him, but I decided to step it up a notch and animated him instead! I always thought he has such a cool look to him. Really neat design! He's not quite on beat to the music, but he doesn't care. As long as he's happy and bouncy walk dancing, that's all that really matters to him. You can relate, right??
