Coffee bean scrubs have been super popular recently and I was curious to try them out. I have had pretty severe eczema since birth, although it’s been getting better over the years, and so often have itchy patches on my skin.
When I opened the packet, it was a very grainy brown powder that smelled a lot like coffee beans, and in my opinion coarser than other coffee scrubs which is great for a grainy feel but not so great if you don’t like the mess it makes. How it works is that you wet your skin, then scrub the granules in, leave for five minutes (selfie time!), then rinse off. As it is a bit hard to shake the scrub out, things can get very messy in the bathroom. I recommend shaking a bit out into a mason jar each time, as a jar is easier to deal with in the shower than a packet.
I do love the simple packaging though, with its minimal monochromatic wording, and their use of natural organic products. Mr Bean Body Care is an Australian brand, but the scrub is made in China.
I found that it really does help with making your skin softer, particularly if you are careful when using around the eyes as it helps a lot with eye bags. You have to be very careful not to get it in your eyes though. I have sensitive skin, and it felt soft and soothed after use of it, which really eased my eczema. The only thing is that scrubbing it off your skin and off the shower floor takes a bit of time, particularly since it leaves behind a slight stain if you don’t scrub properly, which is great if you want a slight fake tan. I found using body wash afterwards helped with removing the slight brown stain on the skin.
The coffee and coconut oil combination clearly work though, because they definitely leave my skin very soft and not as itchy. If you're okay with spending a bit of time and effort, this works really really well.
