My single favorite bit of lore in any video game is that in Mad Rat Dead, a rhythm game about a dead lab rat with time-travel elements in its plot, when the protagonist Mad Rat demands to know how the final boss gave him the ability to turn back time, she goes “wait, rats can’t do that? I thought every animal could do that, are rats an exception or something?” This is said with complete sincerity and it is then confirmed that in the world of Mad Rat Dead, every single animal including humans is capable of turning back time if they want to do it badly enough. The game never once addresses the myriad implications raised by this
