Here is a drawing of one of my "flatmates", our Red Queen: Hide. Depicting her light, airy form was a delicate task.

After last month's 30-day watercolour challenge, I can't seem to stop working with this medium, because after overcoming the initial challenges, it turned out to be such a joy for me! I'm also glad to be away from the computer for a couple of hours each day and these always offer an opportunity for that, while still allowing me to keep on drawing.

The most familiar type of hammerhead shark is the scalloped hammerhead, as they are often seen close to costal areas. Still, they are considered critically endangered because they are hunted commercially for their fins and skin, as well as for simple sport fishing.

Overall, the scalloped hammerhead is rather shy and generally not aggressive towards humans. To put it into perspective, humans have only suffered 17 documented, unprovoked hammerhead attacks since 1580, none of them resulting in death. The width of the hammer-shaped head corresponds to about 30% of the total length of the shark. This shape is also very useful for hunting, because it allows the shark to bore into the seafloor and pin their prey down.

South America has only one species of bear: the spectacled bear. Each bear has unique markings on their face, neck and chest, just like human fingerprints.

The bears are very adaptive and can live in a wide variety of habitat types and altitudes, such as grasslands, forests and scrub deserts. Nevertheless, it is well known that this species will go extinct in the near future due to loss of habitat, brought on by a steadily increasing human population and our need to transform their habitat into either residential areas or farm lands.
