Bai Youning is such an interesting character, the absolute disservice people do to her.
Her playfulness is mistaken for inability. She has just as much experience in the underworld as Chusheng. She might might have more, depending on when he entered. Did you see how she reacted to Lu Miao???
It's so clear that her immaturity is constructed. And no one thinks to explore past that???
Her relationships with her father and Chusheng are so interesting, but no one cares about those either.
I can't imagine looking at her and coming to the conclusion that she is just a conflict to be written out. She is one of the main characters, and a really fun one too.
I'm thinking about the ending of mriad and just like... If your closest friend is like "bro u sure abt this" about your marriage then... Probably not a good sign lol
When they made checkmate, they took out all the flavor. Mriad is delicious even with basically no plot and quite a lot of annoying moments, but checkmate, which is supposed to be an upgrade, is so freaking bland.😕

[Image ID: A three photo series featuring characters from My Roommate is a Detective. All three images connected by a thick line that weaves through and between them, changing colors in each image. The line disappears to frame the main focus of each image.
Image 1: Qiao Chusheng from the shoulders up, sitting comfortably, lifting a fancy glass of what appears to be alcohol to his lips. His hair is slicked back in his signature style, and he is wearing a black velvet suit with satin lapels, a dark purple thick turtleneck, and a silk or other light scarf (not wrapped around the neck) with a blue green geometric pattern. He’s been outlined slightly in blue, and the line cutting through the image is a similar shade. The words “I’m that bitch” are to his right, with “I’m” above the line in a serif font and “that bitch” below the line in a cursive font.
Image 2: Bai Youning from just below the chest up. She seems to be in the middle of talking, and her hair is done up in curls. She’s wearing a white or perhaps light pink cheongsam, with lace like overlays and three clasps around the neck, as well as two along the front. She’s been outlined slightly in pink, and the line cutting through the image is a similar shade. The words “been that bitch” are to her right, with “Been” above the line in a serif font and “that bitch” below the line in a cursive font.
Image 3: Lu Yao talking, seen from the waist up. He appears to be in the middle of explaining a discovery; his expression is confident, and we can see two blurry people in the foreground listening to him. He’s wearing a burnt orange, velvety blazer over a thick bright red turtleneck, and there is the hint of a white handkerchief or pocket square sticking out. He’s been outlined slightly in green, and the line cutting through the image is a similar shade. The words “will forever be that bitch” are to her right, with “will forever be” above the line in a serif font and “that bitch” below the line in a cursive font. /End Image ID].
