I read somewhere that it was important to establish healthy habits long before you begin law school because trying to start healthy habits while adjusting to law school life can be overwhelming and unsuccessful. In January I joined a gym and have been going five days a week since. I wake up every morning around 5:30 so that I’m at the gym by six. I usually spend about an hour at the gym doing a variety of activity. I lift weights, walk, bike, do yoga, and a lot of core exercises. I practice my physical therapy stretches and work on my core to strengthen my back to relieve my back pain.In May, my family and I discovered rock climbing. I don’t do this as much as I would like to but I usually go rock climbing a couple of times a month. This is a killer arms and shoulder workout. It’s a ton of fun to watch my daughter problem solve and figure out how she is going to get to the top. Rock climbing is one of my family’s favorite activities. My family really enjoys hiking as well. We do this every couple of months. I started taking a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu self-defense class every weekend. I originally signed up for a six-week course but have become so obsessed that I will continue this class beyond the six weeks I originally signed up for. Because of this class I have noticed an increase in my confidence. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a form of martial arts designed to give the smaller, weaker person the ability to dominate a larger, stronger opponent. I’ve learned to trust my body’s strength and capabilities. I love that I don’t need to be a body builder to be good at jiu jitsu.Between going to the gym five days a week, rock climbing a couple of times a month, and training in jiu jitsu once a week, I have learned to love my body for what it is capable of instead of what it looks like. #mrjja #bjjgirls #bjj #lawschoollife #lawschoolbound #lawstudent #hikingadventures #hikingfamily #rockclimbing #rockclimbingwomen #gymmotivation #gymlife
