GOOD STORY. i only ever really saw like six episodes of the show. the content of exactly TWO VHS. :):):) they weren’t even sequential. three eps from the middle and the last three eps. and endless waltz because yes.

When Was This Blog Created: I honestly don’t know, because I came to start this Tumblr about four years ago and found that I’d already created one and never used it! When that was, IDK.

As a stand-alone, and being pretty damned sure this was not your intent, 'places to be' is the Beverley/Peter + ace!Nightingale fic I've hoped someone would write. I hope very much you don't mind this interpretation, and I will be as delighted as everyone else in the tiny fandom if/when you extend this and Nightingale is very much not ace. But for the moment, it's *that fic* for me and I appreciate it SO MUCH!
I’m very glad it works for you that way! It’s definitely intended to be a story where the focus isn’t on the development of (or even very much the possibility of) Peter/Nightingale as a sexual relationship - like, honestly as the author I don’t think they’ve even kissed by the end of it. (If only because, well, small children are not conducive to the development of that sort of new relationship.)
I think it’s quite probable I will write other bits and bobs for that scenario where it is specifically Peter/Nightingale + Peter/Beverley, but I think the fic can stand alone the way you interpret it and it always will.
(Also I invite you to imagine Ty and Fleet, at some point during the story, sitting in a bar together going AT LEAST IF WE SERIOUSLY THOUGHT THEY WERE BANGING WE COULD APPEAL TO BEVERLEY’S PRIDE BUT INSTEAD THEY’RE DOING THE FUCKING LAUNDRY TOGETHER. WHAT THE FUCK EVEN IS GOING ON HERE.)

The 'fandom' for original works on ao3 is 'Original Work', which presumably he should use. Is it worth contacting support?
Nah, I thought about that and decided it was bit mean. It’s definitely a Laundry Files story, it’s material he’s never going to publish, so in terms of falling outside the canon it’s...fic-adjacent? I guess? And Stross is an author who, while he didn’t come from and doesn’t inhabit fandom per se, has a very pragmatic and fan-friendly fanfic policy. It’s not ~wrong~, it’s just ~weird~.
Although, TBH, it’s almost totally worth it for the unknowing “you have captured the tone of the books really well!” comments.

Considering it. How does it feel?
I like the format a lot, I just don’t have many people to follow. It’s a lot like twitter but with some nice features like you can “cut” a spoiler/triggering content. It’s easy to carry on conversations and the way it’s set up with different “instances” seems like a good way to form friendly communities. I could see it working really well for fandom, but it will need people willing to run the servers and set up instances. Sort of like how all the competing journal sites were back in the day (dw, jf, gj, etc.) but you can follow someone on other instances so it’s less splintered feeling.
