New picture on my "about" page!
The other one was a bit old, so I uploaded a new, more recent one, from this year's men's choir concert.

New About Me
Since my old "About Me" page was too angsty, I made a new one. Check it out! It has a neat FAQ section that I think is pretty clever.
NEW THEME!!
So, for the first time since the inception of mrnickmason.tumblr.com, I've finally found a new theme. I've been working on the right colors and stuff all night, and I think it's great so you should all just go look right now because it's AWESOME and way better than yours
Also, if you're wondering, I got it from cixth.tumblr.com
Carpe Diem
Today, after I got back from class, I was shocked to find out that a girl from my hometown of Vineland, NJ, had been killed. According to the news source, she had been hit by a car while walking to her bus stop with her brother and sister.
Her name was Alexa Strittmatter. She was a Freshman at Vineland High School, and 14 years old. I am fortunate enough to say that I had the chance to meet her on a few occasions, as she was a fellow volunteer in Youth to Youth - the drug and violence prevention group that I've been a part of for about 7 years now, along with her older sister Tessa, whom I've known for a few years.
When I read the news article today, I was appalled. The idea of something like this happening still seems utterly absurd to me. Yet, it has become cold reality. Alexa was one year older than my little brother. When I was her age, I was just starting to learn the guitar. I had no idea what I wanted to go to college for. I hadn't even had my first kiss yet. And I certainly wasn't thinking about death.
This is a reminder to everybody that life is precious. Every single day is an invaluable gift - yet we continue to waste our time being miserable, fighting with people who aren't really worth it over stupid, stupid, inconsequential things that don't matter in the slightest, all while watching the hours tick away. Why? What's the point? None of us are one bit more special or unique than Alexa was. How long will it be until tragedy strikes one of us, or one of our loved ones? When will my time come? When will yours? It could be at any moment, which horrifies me because if I died today, I would be leaving behind a life full of regrets, of hopes and dreams utterly unfulfilled.
Live for tomorrow, but also live for today. Don't waste another moment waiting for fate to catch up with you.
Gatekeeper
My latest track. It differs sharply from nearly all of my previous works, in that it will probably melt your face off. I decided to go with something more heavy, and here it is. I'm rather proud of it, especially since it took me half the damn summer to write. This song features heavy drums and an awesome guitar solo after the bridge. Enjoy! As always, it will sound the best with headphones!
Key: E Minor / G Major Instruments: 3 Electric Guitars, Electric Bass, Sawtooth Keys, Square Keys, Drumset.

A Good Evening - Nick Mason
This song isn't my newest, but I delayed putting it up here because I wasn't happy with the way it sounded until recently. This was my first and so far only attempt at composing Jazz, and I wasn't very ambitious, seeing as how I don't know much about Jazz. Anyway, this song features 3 solos: an alto sax, a guitar, and a tenor sax. I'm not really happy with the alto solo, but I do like the other two.
Listen to this song with headphones, if you can! I really like the bass in this one and it would be a shame if you didn't get to hear it. As opposed to most of my other music, which is inspired by other music, the inspiration for this came from walking around parts of Rowan at night. Enjoy!
Key: E flat Major Instruments: Alto saxophone, Tenor saxophone, Electric guitar, Fretless electric bass, Electric organ, and a Drumset (featuring a splash cymbal)
