Alex can’t remember the last time he took a vacation. And he’s been trying to be better, kinder to himself, so when Liz and Max announce their engagement, and invite them all to their Seattle townhouse to celebrate, he decides to take the time off and drive up. He won’t have to sit in an uncomfortable economy class seat for hours, he can see the sights along the way, and he gets to be away from Roswell for a few extra days. There’s no real downside to this. 

It takes miles of sun-bleached interstate under the tires, past deserts and oceans and cities and forests, but eventually, they find their way back to each other.

comment: i looooove roadtip fics! this one is even canonical and post-s2, with some malex coming back together over their journey. the locations all feel like real roadtrip stops which is so sweet.

Michael lays in Alex’s bed, unable to sleep. It’s late enough to be considered early for some. He knows it won’t be that long before the sun starts peeking out and waking his boyfriend up. Alex is physically incapable of sleeping in. For now though, Alex is passed out and has been for several hours. And, for the record, not that Michael has ever had any doubt, he’s looking incredibly sexy even in his sleep.

A collection of one-shots centered around Alex and Michael's sacred Sunday mornings together, starting with their first Sunday back together and going from there.

comment: fics like this make the hiatus bearable. this is a series where every chapter is a new sunday in michael and alex’s lives. it’s a soft, gentle exploration of their domesticity and love for one another as the sundays roll by. but more than that, it envisions are future where they get to be happy together and have the space to carve out time for themselves, amidst whatever their wider family is doing. (there’s also dogs, so you know it’s good).

Forrest wasn’t sure what to expect dating Alex Manes.

The 180 degree turnaround on PDA between their first date and open mic night felt too good to be true. He half expected regression on their second date, for Alex to pull his hand away when Forrest reached for him in public, or to scoot his chair farther away when one of his Air Force buddies approached them in the bar, but so far that fear has been unrealized. It’s like a switch flipped, probably due to a combination of his own internal work, the death of his father, and full support of his brother. Alex is lighter and happier than when they first met, and seems at ease being out in public with Forrest no matter where they go. Tonight, they’ve settled on a casual night out at the Pony, with the intention of Forrest getting a chance to know Maria better.

Three Times Forrest Ignores Isobel When She Tries to Meddle, and Two Times He Doesn’t. Forrest knows he and Alex could be so good together, if only Isobel would stop crashing their dates and bringing up Alex's ex.

comment: you know i love the 5+1 format, or any variation (in this case 3+2). this is a delightful, and kind, telling of forrest and alex’s relationship through forrest’s pov. isobel is terribly in character, meddling in the affairs of others and teasing alex about how she wants to see his brother naked (and how he wants to see her brother naked). i really loved forrest in this but it is, at heart, a malex fic. and poor forrest is up against a lot.
