Paintings that make me smile...

Once upon a time I Ioved to oil paint. Then in college I received my BA in Graphic Design and I shot a lot of of black and white photography. When grad school seemed like a dream that I could never afford I became a retoucher or photo editor they call them these days. I did that along with many other fancy image editing and scanning things for a few years. I met my husband and long story short we moved to the south, got married, I got a job doing editing and quality control for print design, and then we had a baby.

So after baby, I became a SAHM and my husband is a full time artist. On a whim I purchased some watercolors and painted our beloved one-eyed rescue mutt. After that it’s all a blur and now I love painting pet portraits, occasion cards, and even awesome animals representing families.

I’m so lucky that I’ve had a lot of support from my Tumblr community. I’ve had the opportunity to do some wonderful portraits honoring and remembering some beloved pets. I hope to continue painting pets of all sorts for people to enjoy.

You. Are. Not. A. Bad. Mom. Those women are probably lazy and don't want to do their job of watching kids. He is a normal little boy that plays rough. You know you didn't teach him that and neither did your husband. He probably n learned that from some kid at the daycare...

that is ridiculous...that is completely normal toddler behavior!

Thank you guys for your support. It means a lot to me. I'm trying really hard not to blame myself but I've already been crying about this.

When I tried to talk to the club manager, she blamed me. She said, "With effective parenting, this wouldn't be a problem." She said that she has 3 year old who never hit. When I tried to get a partial refund for the weeks he wouldn't be able to go, she said, "Nobody has asked for a refund. Most just take ownership of the situation." Which implies that I'm not "owning" my part. I just don't want to pay for a service that I can't use. When I complained about the inability of the staff to properly redirect or watch a toddler, she said that Declan was "excessive." I already escalated my complaint to the district manager, but I'm so close to just canceling the whole thing. I don't think I want us going if they are going to treat us like that. This is 24 Hour Fitness. They should know better. They are a national chain and a big club.

The club manager doesn't know that I work with him everyday on this stuff. He's never had a problem at swim class, Gymboree, the park, play dates, etc. When I asked Declan's doctor about the pushing or snatching toys, she said that he just needs to mature, have a better understanding of consequences, have a better vocabulary, etc. She said I was doing okay with him.

I don't know what to do. It just sucks all around. I finally was getting back into shape, I was taking time for myself, I was trying to do some self-care and I feel like I failed.

Thank you! :) My hair is technically naturally curly, it's just flat, fine, oily curly hair, which according to fashion magazines doesn't exist. It does, though, and it isn't cute without a lot of encouragement. It mostly just looks like a stringy mess.

Sometimes I worry about socialization. Not the languages tho. I think there's too much focus on academics for toddlers.

I'm thankful I'm not alone in worrying. I think I'm constantly finding new stuff to feel guilty for. Isn't just like mommyhood to find something to worry about?

I feel like a real human when I get to sleep until 8 am — it’s been 2 days in a row & I’m in heaven!

Squeaks hugs & kisses me first thing in the morning & last thing before she falls asleep.  I hope it lasts forever & ever.  She gives the big, tight neck hugs.  Nothing better.

We have our first family camp trip this weekend!  It’s just 5 miles from home, just in case Squeaks & I aren’t feeling it.

Boogie is into monster trucks all of the sudden & I’m going to make him a monster truck cake for his birthday :D

We just started a new routine of Boogie zooming around the neighborhood on his scooter, while Squeaks is on my back in the Ergo carrier.  Gotta do whatever works & I think we’re all happy with the new set up :)
