almost done with ms. maisel season 4 (no big story spoilers)
if you watched season 3 and you were upset about that thing midge did, I was too. It is given some weight in season 4, about halfway through the season. She gives a good apology but she doesn't forgive Shy for his reaction to the thing she did, which is bonkers IMO.
I like Amy Sherman-Palladino. I loved Gilmore Girls so much. I like comedies, especially really fast quippy romantic comedies where every line is a punchline. However I wish this particular show would dial down the horrible second hand embarassment. And the shouting. So much shouting! Someone needs to tell Amy that having a character shout "fuck!" is not a punchline.
Also, I've heard british people point out that American comedies tend to do a thing where the characters repeat the joke like 3 or 4 times, and that happens a LOT.
Plus with comedies you often have this problem where the emotional beats are off. You can't engage with the characters in any serious way because they're always doing something kind of horrible (but it's for the joke!) And there are some pretty low fat jokes and lesbian jokes and I-hate-my-kids jokes and the whole perspective is really centered on women like Midge. There's a lot of hand waving. Problems disappear because a rich person shows up and disappears them.
But it's a fun show. Lots of burlesque numbers this season.
My favorite tv show moment is when Joel is tracing the bra strap lines in Miriam’s back. It haunts me to this day
Watched the first three eps of Ms. Maisel s5. It's about what I remember for that show ... I don't really like the story or the characters but I like how much the creators seem to be enjoying the story and characters.
