All my deadlines are fast approaching. 💀

I need to get my proposal formally submitted by next week, then be done with the whole actual thesis by the end of the month. Defend early June. Conference mid July. Move before the end of summer?? Start the new PhD late August?

I just finished the proposal, other than any last minute revisions I need to make after my committee reviews it, so that's one thing done. But I'm still actively collecting data and adding more specimens?? So much work left to do. 💀 So little time.

But I expect to describe several species based on this work I've been doing so there's that.

Two hours into integrating images and tables into my thesis. Only about halfway done. *cracks neck*

It’s so fucking frustrating when my advisor asks for a citation in my thesis ON A SENTENCE THAT LITERALLY HAS AT LEAST ONE CITATION.

Like, do you not understand what I’m saying? Do you not understand what is being cited? Do you not like the citation I picked? Are you just reading too closely and forget the citation is there? Should I just put this down to you being a terrible scientist?

Months ago, when we sat down a did an outline of what to talk about in my thesis, we agreed that mineralogical controls on weathering would be the focus of the results and discussion, as it is the whole reason this project was even started. For two and a half years, mineralogical controls on weathering has been the focus of my thesis. It’s been the reason for this research. It’s been the title of my three posters and my thesis for a year now.

My thesis is due to committee on Monday.

Yesterday, Friday, three days before my thesis is due (ie my thesis is completely written and is only getting edited at this stage), my advisor freaked out, decided that the people who funded our project don’t understand mineralogy, and therefore decided it was not fit to be the focus of my thesis. She told me to literally re-focus my entire thesis around fluid residence time and volume of water.

And this is one of the many reasons she’s a fucking terrible scientist and an even worse advisor.

My thesis is due Mon, and we’ve been sticking in so many edits (and I just got new data yesterday afternoon that I’ve been trying to incorporate) that I’ve literally stayed up all night at least every other night and the other day I was up for 44 hours.

I’m so fucking tired. Monday is so far away.
