Belated commission for @ms-winford
🌺 for Iri
“Irielle’s a good lass. Friendly, bold, can roll with the worst of the petty assholes without breaking a sweat. I appreciate how unfussed and easygoing she seems about everything without being an absolute pushover or just some bleeding heart; it’s a delicate line to walk.”
Azalea - Does your muse take care of others, voluntarily or not? Do they enjoy it? Do they resent it?
"This Unit most certainly chose the life which she now leads, that of a semi-former Beacon of Mechagon.
What is the function of a Beacon? It is to provide guidance, safety, and security to all freely, as far as reach will allow.
To this end, the concept of Guidance is expanded to follow many possible avenues of execution between the literal and the figurative, the material and the metaphysical. To shine brightly in the night so that others may find their way. To guide souls to the afterlife, to greet new ones as they are birthed.
As stated, this position was taken voluntarily. Performing these functions in service of her kinfolk and the Light itself is key to This Unit's self-actualization. It is an honor and a privilege, as it is said.
And though This Unit may well one day retire from full duties, these functions are not merely a choice: they are the realizations of This Unit's self, desires, dreams, philosophical concerns. To that end, This Unit will always be a Beacon to those in need.
Thank you for this query ~"

“Helion was my husband for a long time -- well over a century. Gloamingdawn was the last name he chose for himself, he thought it was a good joke to combine dusk and dawn. We lived together for much longer than well over a century, but he was always really hesitant to commit to locking me in to that with the lifestyle he dedicated himself to. His passion was the military more than anything else. It’s what he was training for when we were teens in the orphanage. We just sorta fell together as the older kids there, and we moved in together after I aged out.
He was always so sweet, funny, and encouraging. Always demanded I have some new thing to tell him about in our letters back and forth -- he never wanted me stuck in the house. It feels wrong to call him an ex, or to think of him that way. “Late”, either. Not being able to give him the children he wanted is one of the greatest regrets of my life.”

“Tem is the reason I became a surgeon. Of anyone I’ve ever known or been with we were together the shortest amount of time. Not that we were ever officially dating or “together”. We were magnetic. Caught on like a tree struck by lightning. If things went differently we’d probably be married with a couple of adopted kids by now.
He said as much when he was dying. I couldn’t save him, all his injuries were internal and he’d been a spellbreaker long before we’d met so whatever Light I wanted to use wasn’t good enough. Three months was all we had together, but I don’t miss him as much as I used to. Time does that.”
( Thanks @ms-winford! )
Do your muses like each other? What are their relationships with other muses on your blog?
Hani and Val like each other all right - they’re sisters, and while they were close growing up and have since drifted apart for various and sundry reasons, Hani’s big on family and Val’s trying.
Neither of them know Brassy nor would they much like her. Brassy is a friend of Sino though (the Elf), who has been careful NOT to put her in a room with Val.
I’m pretty sure Hani and Justus have crossed paths at least once though they haven’t known it. Justus and Brassy don’t know another and we’re all better for it.
None of them know Lian because they’re in a different universe, but Hani would adore him and Val would find him kind but kind of a doormat. Justus would like him and Brassy would antagonize the shit out of him. Noor doesn’t know him either, but Noor and Val would get on.

🔥 Forsaken
Gatekeeping Forsaken RPers based on how well preserved their character is is stupid af.
If someone’s deader is well preserved and comparatively pretty/handsome, let them rock that shit. If someone’s deader is rotted and ugly, let them rock that shit.
Your character isn’t more or less a Forsaken if they look more Human or a corpse, and people who tout this, “You’re not a true forsaken unless you’re monstrous looking” crap need to be shown the door.
(Thank you for the ask, @ms-winford !)
The sky was as black as it had been since their arrival, a vengeful moon looming overhead. The Apothecary's gold eyes were bright as she held skeletal fingers to her side, robes damp with blood and ichor. She had been gathering samples - a dangerous project on a battlefield - when the ambush had been sprung. Five bodies lay around the pair. “We almost died back there. Maybe we should introduce ourselves.” She paused, fingers tight on her staff as she held herself up. "Loira, Loira Winford."
The barrel within Celaryn’s metal wrist smoked with the unmistakable scent of gunpowder, a literal hand cannon that had been fired during the Night Warriors’ ambush. Her crimson eyes swept over the corpse-ridden grass as she snapped her dislocated prosthetic hand back into place.
Her helmet arched upward, and she inhaled deep through her nostrils, seeming to bathe in the aura of the victory for a long moment as if in bliss before realizing that someone was speaking to her. She turned on her sabatons, steel plates clanking as she retrieved her gargantuan longsword’s scabbard from the bloodstained ground and lifted her gaze up to meet Loira’s.
A mage, a welcome addition to a fight regardless of the circumstances. Whether by incinerating enemies or freezing attackers ice cold to be shattered by the captain’s brute force, mages always made Celaryn’s job easier when on her side. On the enemy side? A royal pain in the ass.
“Celaryn Slaughterjaw,” she introduced in response. “Captain Slaughterjaw.” The soldier plunged her weapon’s sheath into a fallen night warrior’s back and slid the massive weapon into it with a grinding rasp. With a disgusting crunch, she wrenched the scabbard out of the corpse and looped its strap across her torso.
“It is dangerous for an apothecary to be alone when they are in hostile territory,” the captain reminded. “Where is the rest of your group, Winford? I will escort you back to them.”
She still isn’t sure, exactly, if this is a good idea. But the worg hearts can’t wait.
“Bathran’s Hair...ailments of the spirit indeed, and not the most powerful herb on the body. But quite potent on the land, on corrupted plants. I recall it being somewhat useful in the Eastern Plaguelands, in conjunction with a shaman’s pure water.”
Feyoran drums her fingers over her pouch again, staring past the Forsaken to the central island. “I do not have it on me, but I keep samples of Ironroot Vine as well...though of course more useful to surgeons than alchemists...”
And she finally adds, though a bit quieter than the rest. “And a supply of Purple Lotus.”
She stays in an attitude of thought for a moment longer, before her attention snaps back to Miss Winford, raising a silent eyebrow.
