Happy Pokémon Day everyone! I'm pretty excited for Winds and Waves, and my server wanted me to draw Coro and Taima dressed as the new Mr. Windychu and Ms. Wavychu!

A Thought Just Occurred To Me

Okay, so we know that these two are going to play some sort of key role into the story of Winds/Waves, but I think it should be noted that their designs and names run deeper then simply “oh, yeah, we dressed up two Pikachu as tourists, for the lolz”. Specifically, I think the two are meant to harken back to the special event Flying Pikachu and Surfing Pikachu.

Like, yeah, this has been done before with the Pikachu line being able to learn Surf in recent games, not to mention Captain Pikachu’s aspirations and Tera Type, but with the new titles and the emphasis placed on Mr. Windychu & Ms. Wavychu in today’s trailer, I’m wondering how Winds/Waves will play with the longstanding Flying/Surfing Pikachu trend.
