DualityReboot AU
After dramatically passing out, Anakin is carried back to the ship by Obi-Wan and the clone troopers. There, they try and figure out what's causing him to breath so erratically as well as what's causing his eyes to bleed.
While the medics fuss about, Obi-Wan can't help but sit there in stunned shock, replaying the day's events in his mind over and over again. He knew Anakin had been behaving rather odd lately, acting almost like an entirely different person in some occasions, but he had simply assumed it was the result of the increasing stress of the war.
The battles had taken a rather brutal turn as of late and even Obi-Wan was starting to feel strained, so Anakin acting off kilter was understandable, but falling to the Darkside? Obi-Wan couldn't believe it. Even though he felt that oppressive darkness strangle him, even though he saw volcanic gold eyes looking back instead of blue, he still felt Anakin.
De-aged! Bruce word vomit
Bruce getting hit with a spell and turning 9-10. The batkids taking care of Kid Bruce before they start noticing he doesn’t act like they thought he would. He seems much more haunted and is weirdly confused when they try to comfort him after a nightmare the first time.
The kids being confused that Kid Bruce goes around hugging everyone much more freely but also hangs onto every shred of affection like it’ll be ripped away. Him acting like this with Alfred cause Alfred has always insisted on keeping a strict professional boundary between them when he was a child. Kid Bruce’s memories of the employer-employee relationship that he had to adjust around conflicting with living proof that Alfred has always been capable of being softer, familial. Kid Bruce trying to figure out what caused this so he could get some of the soft love he’d lost after seeing it seep out into the alley that night back.
His behaviour with affection being slightly different with his kids because according to the notes he’d found, it seems like their affection has always been contingent on something ever since they grew up. Kid Bruce not knowing them and now doubting if he even wants to know the people that he has earn love from. But Kid Bruce finding their hugs and soft words so comforting that he wonders what monstrous thing he must have done to have this love given so freely now have rules in the future. Kid Bruce slowly realizing these rules are just for him and him only when he sees Dick ruffle Tim’s hair after an argument.
Kid Bruce dreading having to grow up and constantly perform in the one space he thought he’d eventually to be loved in like he once was. Kid Bruce mourning his parents tenfold because it wasn’t fair that he couldn’t just be and still be able to feel tenderness ever again.
The kids not knowing how to deal with this version of their father that sometimes gets this devastatingly melancholic look in his eyes that no kid should have, that Bruce tried to make sure they didn’t have as best he could. The kids eventually deciding to smother Kid Bruce with as many hugs as they can. The kids promising themselves that they were going to try to change the way they used their affection.
Yet nothing really changes. Without even realizing it the batkids have separated Kid Bruce and their Bruce into two different people after just a couple months of sticking to their promise and they’ve fallen back into old habits.
Them only realizing this when they find Bruce holding a picture taken of him hugging one of his kids tightly to his chest two days after an argument, curled up.
( this is an amalgamation of so many posts that have blurred together in my mind so if anyone recognizes their idea and wants to be credited pls just lmk! )
Hokum feels like it was made for me. Great atmosphere. Interesting characters - even unlikeable! Adam Scott is great as a complete fucking prick. Not a douchebag with a heart of gold. He is a mean asshole. A well-written and acted asshole. Characters don't need to be perfect to be interesting.
The hotel itself reminded me of a few I've stayed in in Ireland funny enough so maybe that's why I fully bought into the creepiness of the hotel. I went in praying whatever was going on would not be revealed to be some Satanic cult, especially since I was hoping it would lean on Irish folklore which is scary as shit sometimes. Not a cult!!! (Can we cool it with the "it was a cult/ritual" trope for a bit?)
Good jump scares, good creepy scares too. The kind that don't draw attention. One of the best involved both. And one especially disturbing bunny. "You're scared? You should be. You fucking should be" that and a few other visuals actually gave me chills. Good chunks of the movie every muscle in my body was *clenched*.
I can't wait to see what other people (especially those who don't have an interest in Irish mythology and folklore) think of it. I know I am predisposed, I wonder if someone who wasn't would be as into it.
Flambert word vomit. Bi Robert
Robert doesn't care if people know he's Bi, but he also doesn't care to tell anyone. It's just not really big deal to him.
Thinking about Phainon who’s in love with a transmigrator but you have hidden motive.
The hidden motive is literally trying to return back to your original world.
