I had way too much fun watching the MSA Formula today! For those who don’t know, MSA Formula if the UK’s new F4 and BRDC F4 is now F3...confusing, I know. Anyway, I have three friends racing in this series who I am currently very proud of!
I’ll start with Ayrton Simmons. He’s the youngest driver in the series this season and, don’t be put off by the age, he’s bloody fast! I interviewed him a few months ago where he told me he won’t be racing in the first two races as he is actually too young...I was watching him be able to keep up with the Carlin’s in an Arden...wow! I honestly can’t wait to watch him race!
Now Petru Florescu. I interviewed him nearly a year ago now! His first MSA Formula season in 2015 was off the back of smashing both his legs up in a nasty karting accident. I remember him telling me that he wanted to get his first win this season. Today at the Brands Hatch Indy circuit, he ran away with that win from pole position! He crashed in the second race but I’ll forget about that...He starts from pole for tomorrows third race and I can’t wait to see what he can do!
Finally, we have James Pull. I’m actually yet to interview him but he followed me on twitter mid 2015 so we’ve spoken a bit. Now, he switched teams during last season and for 2016 he jumped the JHR boat and came to Carlin for a front running drive. He started race 1 in P2 and finished P3. Race 2 he started around P8 and finished P3 again after a feisty battle that involved Sennan Fielding’s odd lucky socks, Jamie Caroline’s broken front wing, Zane Goddads lack of rear wing and James’ lack of front wing...I’m setting up an interview with him for those of you wondering!
I’m waiting to see if I’m able to go to the Croft race in Darlington as it is the closest circuit to me where I can see all of these lads drive. I’ll definitely be reinterviewing Ayrton and Petru and I’ll be stealing James away for an interview with him! If you haven't already, go and check out the MSA formula! For those living in the UK it is on from 10am tomorrow on ITV4! Take a look! You won’t be disappointed!
