Despite being a loner, Harlow wants to throw a gift giving party on Snowflake Day, with only 5 or 6 guests. The party goes as usual, except Rocinante being a mixology enthusiast, takes it upon himself and serves lots of drinks, tray after tray. And guests happily indulge. But one guest in particular has to face consequences of his indulgence.
This genie, Chip, gets arrested for drunken behaviour right in front of his wife and toddler, at their house before he can go inside. 🤣 I'm enjoying the Let's Get Drunk mod more than I would think. What follows, I believe, has nothing to do with the mod, though. It's just funny sims logic.
Then the lady cop hops into a Big Lemon and drives off, with Chip following behind on floating foot. They go all the way down to the town centre where a police car awaits.
Hmmm. Well, that police car takes them back to Chip's house. Such a ceremonial arrest.
Maybe it's because we don't have a Police Station yet. But anyway, he finally gets his fine while being yelled at by the lady cop. I'm sure he'll think twice, from now on, before drinking.
In The-Future-that-Never-Happened Edition, we have Bismarck autonomously visiting beach lots after his date with Tabitha ends with a disappointing shower woohoo. In this universe he doesn't find Tabitha attractive at all. But he doesn't care. He celebrates the facts that his mother’s resort is gone and Serena is out of the house.
Bismarck: YAY, death to all HAGS; long live young LADS!
Then he has a nice evening swim. After this point my game starts displaying weird anomalies to the point it's unplayable. So I go back to the latest working save with no issues.
I was testing new Fayne Island before the big move, with Colette Bonnet from France and she couldn't last two hours. I gave her a chair on an empty lot while I was checking things in speed 3. Apparently the island was just too hot to stay outside so she combusted. 😣
Even Grim thought this was such a ridiculous death. ☠️
I know I could just teleport her to the shore, but she was really close and I thought she could make it. And in true sims fashion, she expired just when she was inside the water. 👏 🤦 Those are her ashes.
Death by fire at the beach. The game should give you an achievement for that.
In this week's Useless Tips Section we learn from the best.
Have your host leave for work as soon as the party starts so you're left alone with a starving toddler. ✅
Have your evil step-daughter steal candy from the said toddler. ✅
Woohoo with your girlfriend in your host's bed while the same poor toddler and the family dog watch. ✅
After making sure the party is awkward, boring and uneventful, leave for work. ✅
Doreen sees your hand and raises by burning poor Jerad, one of your good friends who's just tagging along, with a Fire Blast spell TWICE.
The good Serena tries yet gives up when she hears the sirens.
Thankfully, the fire brigade is here! I don't even know how since we don't even have a Fire Station in town. And with that, Doreen is officially expelled from public events.
You don't play for weeks doing other stuff and when you finally decide to play, the game welcomes you with crashes. And the funny thing is that I called it. I was like 'I feel like it's going to crash' the whole time and when it did 'I knew it!' 😅 But what I didn't know was that it was one of those persistent crashes. Happens at the same game time almost always.
This time I really felt the despair. For a moment, I entertained the idea of starting a new save in a new world particularly because I'm kind of sick of Fayne Island. But that means I have to move the whole town because I care about the legacies and everyone is a relative in this town.
I dealt with persistent crashes for at least 4 times with this save. And each time, it feels like it's the end. Yet again, I decided to follow through with my debugging process, which is using NRaas Debug Enabler on the City Hall > Dump Alarms 15 minutes before the crash time and right before the crash time. Then I usually wait for it to CTD with my eyes glued upon the game clock.
Dumping alarms creates another Script Error xml in your Sims 3 folder and I believe you also need Error Trap for this. Looking at logs for errors is basically a guessing game 🧐 😸 You mostly look at what's happening around the time of the crash. Identifying the problem can be tricky, like playing darts blindfolded. 😹 This time, it only took like 6 or 7 reboots!
The theory in NRaas' chatterbox is that persistent crashes are caused by alarms. The game uses alarms to check things periodically or occasionally depending on the situation and when the check returns with an error it may crash the game. My uneducated guess.
In my case, one of the town kids had a play date with Midori. The next day around noon the crash started to happen. It was Snowflake day and there were multiple parties happening around the town including my active lot. Looking at the logs I guessed it might be a visit situation issue. One by one eliminating parties before the crash time didn't solve the issue.
And then I realised there is still a visit situation happening on my lot even though there was no ongoing event. Checking the error logs again I found out that the game was still checking time for the child from previous evening, whether it's time to leave when the child was actually at the Winter Festival.
And this one big adventure ends with me reseting that child and saving the day. Yay. So Fayne Island perseveres once more.
The resort's pool is always empty. I first thought, with the shock of seeing something swimming in the pool - other than people - that the reason is the bugs. There are cockroaches in the pool? But I also have a casino room that takes all the attention.
I can't decide whether it's a resort issue or just a spawner issue. There are no reports of roaches. Sims cannot interact with the bugs either. I sure wouldn't swim in a pool with cockroaches, though.
Edit: I used MC -> Object Stats -> Not in Inventory on the lot and flushed 3 roach scenarios. Let's see if that's why the resort has stuck with 4½ stars.
