Can I be nosey and ask what denomination your church is? I'm super involved in my UU congregation, so I'm always looking for progressive faiths.
United Church of Canada! Which formed, a hundred years ago, from a combination of Methodist and Presbyterian churches.
My grandmother has always gone to a United church, and the thing that impressed me was that her church was always pushing her to be more liberal and accepting--I mean, Gran’s a pretty judgmental person, and even when she thinks she’s being super progressive she’s still super racist/sexist/homophobic, but when I was 14 she was the first adult in my life to talk positively about LGBT people, even if it was in the manner of, “I used to be very prejudiced against gays, but I had never met any; now the organist at my church has come out as lesbian and the minister preaches supporting her, so I suppose they’re not so terrible after all.”
I only just started attending this year, so I’m not super used to being part of a congregation (my mom’s atheist, so I wasn’t raised very religious) but I want to keep doing it.
