light the candles
amidst the festivities that mokseong’s halloween event is bringing, there’s another reason why today marks a day of celebration. although to bell, it’s just like any other day, one that’ll pass quickly the moment he blinks. it’s strange for him to celebrate life—his own, specifically—when halloween is meant to keep the dead at bay, or something of the sort.
( and maybe he can’t find the appeal in celebrating his the day his life began when he had witnessed someone else’s life ripped abruptly before his very eyes, but that’s another thing entirely, isn’t it? )
if he could have one selfish wish, other than bringing back what he had lost, he wants to at least spend today with ( @msujaein ). despite being at odds lately, unable to see eye to eye, he cares for his brother. bell cherishes their bond, no matter how the thread of their brotherhood is slowly dwindling the further he descends into darkness. tonight, he wants to forget about all that—he wants to enjoy his time with jaein. what better way to do that than to participate in the halloween event?
jaein is a busy person, bell had seen the other scurrying around healing those who got themselves in a bit of a pickle far too often as well. bell wouldn’t be surprised if the significance of today slipped his brother’s mind, especially since bell doesn’t like remembering it either. he has no intention of bringing it up, doesn’t say anything about it when he spots his brother and approaches.
“hey,” he greets, curt as always but his tone isn’t as sharp as it usually is. it never is when he’s speaking to jaein. “there’s probably a bunch of reckless students who are injuring themselves left and right, which means you might be busy.” bell points at the haunted house beside them, the corner of his lips quirked into a small smile. “i was wondering if you wanted to try that out, though."
