This is a problem by Greg Brown Via Flickr: A westbound Southern Pacific lumber drag begins the climb out of the Butte Valley at old Jerome siding. This site is between Mt Hebron and Kegg on the Black Butte Subdivision. How nice it was to catch a train in Northern California on a bright, clear winter afternoon.

The ominous plume of smoke emanating from the lead unit is impressive. Hopefully, this train will be able to cross the crest of the grade over the southern Cascades near Grass Lake before the locomotive throws in the towel.

Charley visits Mt. Hebron with Spike, September 25, 2005. Montclair, New Jersey

Charley visits Mt. Hebron cemetery with his “big brother” Spike to pay their respects to departed family members. In particular, they visit the gravesite of their human grandmother who had passed away just two years prior. She was very close to Spike, who was her dog, and he came to live with me after she passed away. This trip reunited them and was the first (and last) time Charley “met” her. Three days after this visit, Spike himself passed away at age 17.

Do you ever feel so randomly let down by something that you want to cry? Ugh, that’s where I’m at.  I’ve been going through things in my room (it’s awful, i have way too much stuff), and I came across a sealed “video cd” from Beyond Main Street.  I thought it was the copy of my high school marching band marching down Main Street at the Magic Kingdom in spring of 2000.  Turns out it’s just a promo for the people that make the BMS videos.  The copy of the parade must be somewhere else.  I really wanted to see my marching unit perform, and now that I can’t i’m really disappointed and want to cry.  I have a VHS of Homecoming 1998, but my VCR is a pain in the ass.  This is one of the things that sucks about having done cool stuff in the stone age, it isn’t all over the internet.  :(

At least I’m feeling stuff, so maybe the Vraylar is helping?

The final resting place of Mr Martin Funk of the Winchester Funks. He has without a doubt the coolest tombstone in the Mt Hebron Cemetery. Also the oldest.
