Literally every single time I see some sort of reference to SinSeren, Rolling in the Deep by Adele starts playing in my head
Anyone else ever feel like the main series would never have turned into the existential debate club nightmare that is the final arc if Sinbad had just married Serendine like she suggested?
The one thing I am...anxious for? I would say “looking forward to” but that doesn’t really apply in the first case...in Adventures of Sinbad, other than what the hell happens to Serendine (you see?), is baby Sharrkan meeting baby Yamuraiha. I just... I really want to know if this antagonistic relationship of theirs is because he’s had a crush on her since the beginning, or maybe she liked him first but he never reciprocated until she got over it and then he realized... Although I’m really thinking it’s the former. Adult Sharrkan is a sinnamon roll but baby Sharrkan is just... so pure... Undoubtedly, he gets all his bad habits from emulating Sinbad.
You know, in my personal opinion, Alibaba and Sinbad didn’t “win” in their fights against Toto and Serendine. In Alibaba’s case, if a lady can lose a fight by having her breastplate cut off, then by that logic Toto herself could have won simply by pantsing him. And in Sinbad and Serendine’s case, why is a military commander considered to have been publicly shamed and humiliated by having her breasts exposed but no one ever bats an eye at her (frankly ridiculous) metal thong? From a historical standpoint, there’s evidence to suggest that actual female gladiators fought wearing only a loincloth-- there’s also that post that goes around sometimes about how women in the Victorian era fought duels topless because it’s safer in terms of preventing infection caused by debris. And honestly? If I’m a girl formally trained in swordsmanship and you pull a stunt like that and turn your back thinking that’s your victory, more than likely you’ve just guaranteed your loss.
The fight’s not over until one of us is disarmed, incapacitated, or dead.
On the subject of the Sinbad no Bouken anime...
I keep seeing comments along the lines of “why are they making an anime if they already made OVAs?” and I’m not really sure how old those comments are, but based on the trailer, it looks like the anime is going to pick up more or less where the OVAs left off and start after the Imuchakk arc. The mangacaps shown in the trailer seem to cover the backstory about his dad, the Sasan arc, and the Artemyra arc-- not to mention that the design of Sinbad himself in the promo art is his eighteen year old appearance, so I think we can be fairly confident that we’re really only looking at later events. Plus, Mistolras (Mystras?) is there so we’re definitely moving ahead.
On a more personal note, I finally figured out what bothers me so much about the animation in the OVAs-- it’s the outlines. The line thickness varies throughout the outline of each character and I hate it. Presumably they animated it that way to look more manga-esque, and I understand that, but... this isn’t manga. It’s anime. So can we please have more standard outlines? Well, I guess we’ll just have to see.
Also personal-- I’M SO PUMPED FOR SERENDINE TO COME BACK. Although, it will probably be a while... But that’s okay. I’ve waited this long. I can be patient.
“Don’t worry, this isn’t something like a curse. It’s undoubtedly murder.”
WOW, Serendine. That’s super reassuring.
