Tales from the Mana Crypt #79 - Pre-Release, Party of Four
Four types of players at every pre-release.
Bloomburrow is such a fun change of pace compared to MH3, which I really loved as a “skill testing set”. Now that we’re in an easier environment it feels like taking Rock Lee weights off and just blasting through drafts with confidence.
Now if only I could stop making stupid play choices that lose me games
So Finality Counters are a new space that R&D is introducing in Lost Caverns of Ixalan to give us more readily available & cheap reanimation. If you haven't seen them yet, here's an example:
(god this card is so goddam cool. Uncommon? That name?? THAT ART???)
Finality being a counter is super sweet, too, because all of a sudden cards that remove counters or move them around become so much more interesting. Here are some highlights:
To recap: I reanimate my Great Mistake, it gets a Finality Counter. I tap my Fain, The Broker, removing the counter & create a Treasure token. Seems pretty sweet!
If you blink a creature, it returns to battlefield, sans counters- another way to reset.
And, of course, we could just say you know what? No counters ever, please.
This is the kind of design work that just sings with past Magic cards. I'm a huge fan!
I'm quite good, at opening busted magic: the gathering cards (yay I turned £20 into £200!)
Bronze to Mythic: Lost Caverns of Ixalan, draft #6
This deck was pretty sweet, but just a head's up, I'm going to complain a lot about all my games. 2-3
i need to stop being a coward and like. reach out and ask about mtg deckbuilding and strategy tips and actually put the gathering in magic the gathering
the local game store here has good vibes (at least things are open where i’m stranded) and i’m going to my first FNM this week, drafting Ikoria (also a first, but i’m overpreparing on draftsims even though the shopkeeper said he’d teach).
highkey excited
