🔥 Fire Building (Again!) 🔥 We finally got to build a friction fire! Frank had a giant fire set and we used that with the help of everyone this time around. It was so much easier with all of us helping. We pinned our middle wood between a big log and the fire board (where the friction happens) and then pulled on a cord wrapped around the middle log. We pulled back and forth until the little pile of dust under our fire board finally started smoking on its own. At that point we picked it up, wrapped it in tinder, and took turns gently blowing. Unfortunately, I missed the moment when it caught on fire. After that we put it into the fire and let our twigs go. We also got to practice with flint and steel, which was fun as well. Mt. Tom was gorgeous yesterday and I was so glad we got to roam around in the lovely western mass woods. It was breezy, sunny, and entirely wonderful. Anna
