I very rarely draw anthro characters so this is good practice for me
I've never actually made a proper sona before so this is my fella, his name is Rudd, as in the fish, cause it sounds like Mudd, and it's a fish HAHAA
He's like a weird mix of a rudd, redtail catfish and common carp (unpopular ass opinion but I like freshwater river/canal fish more than marine don't beat me to death))
But yeah he's pretty much me but just in AWESOME form
Over half its wardrobe consists of merch, its entirely a loser, always wearing atleast one article of clothing that's merch in some form
Never caught wearing proper shoes, always wears slides or sandals, usually with very obviously mismatched socks
Don't ask me how any of his piercings or tattoos work anatomically cause i don't even know myself
What do you think Hearthian speech would sound like?

OUG im ngl I really have not given this much thought like at all !! I've heard people say they think it'd sound like whale song and such but what comes to my mind is more like a series of whistles, chirps and clicks ?
So we know they are capable of whistling at the very least since that's Esker's way of making music. And from my logic atleast they would have probably needed a method of creating vibrations through sound that can be heard through water whilst they were still an aquatic/amphibious species, so its quite possible that they used a series of clicks which has since carried over to into their developed language.

Dark Bramble - Did you ever "Feldspar" anything? (ex: slingshot around the black hole as a shortcut, brute force GD's current, etc)
BOY DID I !! Absoruitly whenever i'm on Brittle Hollow I GOTTA do a slingshot or two just for funsies, can even do it backwards now ! Deep impact was a hella fun achievement to do and i got the land on the sun station manually achievement PURELY ACCIDENTALLY HAHA. I did end up feldsparring the bramble quite a bit once i got confident with how fast my ship could accelerate. LOTTA TRIAL AND ERROR THERE BUT !!! all for love of the game yk
The Eye - How did you interpret the ending?
Alright it's no secret that I FREAKIN LOVE THE ENDING SO SO SO MUCH I hold it so dear to me aughggg right okay strap in cause I have alot of words to say about this one.

Okay first up lets talk the quantum observatory, it's familiar, but different. It houses all the things it used to before, all the findings of the ventures, but not quite. The descriptions are that of the hatchling's own. It's a showcase of the hatchling's understanding of what they've seen, what they've figured out for themself, these are no longer discoveries of the astronauts that came before them, they are that of their own.
Now the Ancient Glade, my absolute favourite part of the game although brief.
I interpret the manifestation of the Eye of the Universe as alot of things, i think there's a lot of factors that filter in to why the Ancient Glade
I like to think of it as a quite literal nod to the dark forest theory, not only that but Gabbro. Oh wow who would've guessed Mudd is yapping about Gabbro again who woulda freakin guessed !!!!!!
But no for real, Gabbro. I like to think that part of the reason that it manifested this way is because the quantum poem stuck with the hatchling, i like to think that the hatchling went into the eye of the universe thinking of their time buddy. To me, Gabbro is a pretty special person to the hatchling, the only one who has experienced the same things they have, in slightly different ways, but they're here in the time loop, with them, and they remember. They remember everything you say to them, about your theories, what you've discovered, they help you out in the only way they can. They give advice, they listen to what you have to say, and they REMEMBER.
I also think that the Ancient Glade is also because it bares resemblance to the forests of Timber Hearth, reminds the hatchling of home.
And they find their friends among it. The music, in which is used throughout the game to actually help TELL the story, brings everyone together for one last gathering around a campfire. The death of this universe and the birth of a new one is just a group of friends playing one last tune together in the warm glow of campfire light, kindling the flame and making way for something new. It's a celebration of change, being happy that something existed in the first place instead of mourning its loss.
i will now proceed to tell you guys a bunch of random headcanons, evil plan all along
the patch colours on my hearthian clothing designs aren't random ! my hearthians will actually often trade a scrap of fabric from their clothing with their loved ones and sew it onto their own clothes
this originated with the space programme so that the astronauts could take pieces of their loves ones with them and so that the people back on hearth can still be close to them whilst they're away, but quickly spread across the village as tradition
I'm not sure I'm ready to try artfight for the first time this year, but do you have any tips for someone who isn't very fast or experienced?

honestly art fight caters well to all artists no matter how experienced and how you pace your work !
how much you're able to do in the month really doesn't matter at all ! for example in 2024 i did 1 attack for the month , in 2025 i did 7 and thats okay ::D you may see people putting out ALOT of attacks over the month (looks at a couple of my homies in particular i dont know HOW they do it) but you absolutely do not have to hold yourself to the same standard !
i remember i burnt myself out pretty quick last year trying to get a load done at once so if you're a slower pace artist like me, definitely don't try to push yourself too much ! after all its is but a game thats meant to be fun ! and if its not fun anymore, take a break ! it'll always come around again next year C::
honestly my first year participating i ended up joining last minute, only put up like 2 characters and just used that year to get a feel for what its like, and decided that i wanted to do more the year after !! it's no pressure to participate, you can freely do as little or as much as you like, hell you can even just upload a character and choose not to attack anyone if you so wish, people will just choose to draw characters for the fun of it without the expectation of art in return because that's just the fun of the game ::D
