5th January 2018 - Soft strut. I sometimes question the alternative options Land Rover could’ve had instead of what they actually made/sold. But being an engineer this question i already had the answer for, it’s purely down to cost. Sure they could fit out a defender with all the bells and whistles prior to rolling out onto the forecourts but it would of driven the cost up loads to cover the parts and extra process labour. Fortunately on the 200tdi build, Nath had access to spare a parts from kits at work and picked up a gas strut for free, which he then made a bracket for fitment to the truck. This time i haven't got this luxury and had to spend a pretty penny to purchase an off the shelf kit. Is this a necessity you may be asking yourself? well yeah, if you've ever had to open a door when the trucks on an angle you'll know fully well it doesn't stay open and you tend to find yourself sandwiched between the door and truck. the key is to make life easier.. and fitting this wasn't to strenuous either, so if you want something like this either use http://www.mudstuff.co.uk/products/interior-accessories-11/defender-rear-door-gas-strut.html or most land rover part suppliers will likely store a similar product.

Thus why i’ve bought more for the 110, plug and play with just 4 screws to secure to the headlining. Pricey but 10/10 verdict.
Illumination. Courtesy lights aren’t necessarily something you need to upgrade as a priority, but in the situation where by the rear courtesy light is hanging off… it gives good reason to pay a couple more quid and upgrade to the efficiency of light emitting diodes (LED) supplied by www.mudstuff.co.uk
