Okay, so I've seen quite a few posts of people saying "OW THE EDGE" or that Ryuko is unlikeable and unsympathetic now, because of her little rant at the end of this latest episode.

Let me now tell you why that's bullshit.

Put yourself in Ryuko's figurative shoes right now:

- You have been out cold, unable to do anything, for a month.

-While you were incapacitated, your best friend was trapped inside the stomach of some freaky, Mass-Production-Eva tuxedo thing.

-Right before you went cold, you learned three important pieces of information:

 1. Your archrival is your sister.

 2. You are the daughter of the most despicable living creature on the planet, who abandoned you when you were but a wee infant.

 3. Like said despicable living creature, half of your DNA is identical to that of the alien beings bent on enslaving humankind.

All of a sudden, Ryuko doesn't seem quite so unreasonable in her anger, huh?

AND ANOTHER THING

Most of these posts focus on Ryuko rejecting Senketsu, and convienently leave out what Ryuko says immediatly after.

She calls Senketsu a monster, sure, but SHE CALLS HERSELF A MONSTER TOO!

Because she's part Life Fiber. And you know who else is part life fiber?

This bitch right here.

There's the rub. Ryuko's not angry, she's scared. She's scared of what she might become, and what a further partnership with Senketsu might lead to.

When people are unsure or frightened, they often lash out at people around them.

And that's what Ryuko's doing right now.

So instead of loathing or mocking a character for having a natural emotional reaction to their situation, how about trying to sympathize with them?
