Tsubasa Kato solo exhibition "Reach Out" at Mujin-to Production. Feb 14 - Feb 28, 2015 http://www.mujin-to.com/press/kato_2015_identity.htm (Japanese)

Kato is a performance artist who does one thing by cooperating with local people. For example in "F.F.H (Fukagawa, Future, Humanity)", he created a wood-structure which is exactly the same size of Mujin-to gallery and pulled it up straight with ropes in a park of Fukagawa. He used the "outside" of the gallery instead of its inside and involved the viewers into his work. The silver box with yellow ropes settled in this exhibition space is model of this performance and sold as a "container" of the edition numbered DVD documenting the activity.

On the large panel which is actually a back door of a truck, he screened a video titled "Tokyo Loop". A man is performing Japanese style of cheer-up dance displayed on the back of the truck. The truck runs round and round on a loop highway, encouraging other drivers and the center of Tokyo.

In 2011 when the Great East Japan Earthquake happened on Mar 11th, he pulled up a lighthouse-shaped structure with around 500 local people hoping for recovery from the disaster. The action of pulling up is linked with the meaning of revival. This project was titled "The Lighthouses - 11.3". He chose November 3rd as it is the reverted date of March 11th.

He will move to Seattle from this March for the two year scholarship granted by the Japanese Cultural Affairs, to broaden his creativity.
