I had a great opportunity to visit the former Polk Theatre this morning as chief Ty Cobb and I gave the city's new marketing director, Kelly Murphy, a tour of the Columbia Arts District. When we saw the owner of the business currently located at the site, Rick Alexander, getting out of his car, Rick was kind enough to show us around. I should have taken more pictures, including the stage, a performing arts stage, which was in phenomenal shape as were numerous aesthetic and structural elements of the historic theatre. I've included some photos of murals painted all over the enormous theatre area, some as high as the balcony seating, all of the paintings representing famous Hollywood motion pictures.
