P Chidambaram was right, Mullaiperiyar was only an election issue. All but forgotten now.

In December last year, PC Chidambaram aka PC, stated that the Mullaiperiyar was just an election issue due to a by-poll in Kerala and things will cool down once the election is over. 

It is an unnecessary fear. It is not even a temporary or a permanent fear. It is only a bypoll fear

There was a lot of drama and PC was forced to take his statement back. 

But he was right. After all the brouhaha - Kerala has conveniently forgotten about the Mullaiperiyar issue. If you believed the mass hysteria at the time, it was clear that the dam was about to burst and four to seven million people will lose their lives. 

None of this happened. The dam is still there and today the Supreme Court told Kerala to stop making excuses and get its act together.

What is Kerala's position on Mullaiperiyar? Does the government really believe that people's lives are risk? If they do think so they should do something to address this - do not make noise. If not, live with the fact you have entered into an agreement with Tamil Nadu for 999 years and there is nothing you can do or say about it. 

Stop taking the people of Kerala for a ride.
