Went to 'Mullardoch' for a bit of an outing this weekend.
On Friday night we drove up to the Mullardoch dam, you can find this on the map....Loch Ness > Drumnandrochit > Cannich... walked in and camped high on the shoulder of Creag Dubh which is in the Glencannich Forest. Superb views to the south and east.
Found a suitable spot just as the light was going (21:45) setup the tents, a quick brew (hot Chocolate) a bit of star gazing then a wee dram and finally off to bed.(23:00)
Saturday morning was dry but the Morning Midge had found us...(Billions) With all possible haste we broke camp (06:30) and scurried up on to the main ridge and onwards to Carn nan Gobhar for breakfast. This was a truly awsome summit with fantatstic views in every direction, bright skies and a light dusting of high cloud, a little breeze, just enough to keep the Midge away. Had a relaxed breakfast and prepared for the main event, the long undulating ridge along the full length of Loch Mullardoch.
Here is the route taken >
Carn nan Gobhar > Bealach na Cloiche Duibhe > Sgurr na Lapaich > Creagan Toll an Lochan > An Riabhachan > Bealach Bholla > An Socach > Down to Glen Cannich and the long walk along the Loch back to the dam.
Four magnificent mountains visited once again, spent much of the day above 1000 metres, the weather held, the views were perpetually AWESOME...at one point you could see the Moray bridge in Inverness and the Black Cullin of Skye at the same time! (Pictures a little later)
The toughest bit of the day was that long walk at the end along the Loch, not the best of paths and now with a little tiredness in the legs that 6/7 Km it was hard going.
