Multicasting is when you transmit
Multicasting is when you transmit a packet to multiple destinations in a single send operation.
Andrew Fitzgerald is a writer, editor and member of the News and Journalism Partnerships team (Twitter). During this TED Talk, Fitzgerald takes us through the history of storytelling and how it has evolved to include micro-blogging platforms such as Twitter.
Twitter is a means of multicasting - broadcasting to the masses. Tweets on Twitter are designed to be the length of text messages - no more than 140 characters, and are accessible to the public on the individual’s profile page as a timeline of tweets. These tweets combine to create a story, contributing to the overall conversation and keeping the audience updated on ‘what’s happening?’
Twitter falls under the heading of social media as it allows ‘anyone to publish and access information, collaborate on a common effort, or build relationships’ (Jue, Marr & Kassotakis 2010, p.4).

Using Video in Multicasting on All Available Platforms
http://channelmarketingagency.com Online Marketing Guy Steve Laurvick with consultant Niki Faldemolaei on Using Video in Multicasting on All Available Platforms. Video is the future. If you think about the billions of people, this isn’t just millions – this is billions of people moving to smartphones and tablets to consume content. I mean it’s replacing cable TV and everything.
Video really is an engagement tool. It’s really personal. It’s one way to get your personality out there and have people engage with just the depth of what you’re bringing to the table. And so, the visual makes a huge difference so much more than audio. People or 55% of the population learns from visuals. They don’t learn from auditory so much so this is key to our future.
